The TV is connected to a Comcast Motorola dual tuner HD DVR (34xx series, I believe) through an HDMI cable.
Problem: Every time I power off the Olevia and then turn it back on (immediately or hours, same behavior), the set cannot show the signal. Olevia support says that this is due to losing the HDCP authorization when power is off and it does not have the ability to request a new auth unless the TV sees the signal lost (i.e., cable box is power cycled or HDMI cable is removed/reset). This is annoying and even slightly difficult since the cable is out of the way in the back.
Am I stuck? Did I just get a bad TV (that is, Olevia's are okay but this particular set is bad) and should exchange for a new one? Or, hopefully, is there some setting I can change?
Thanks, and please don't blast the forum noob.
Are you still having this problem? I'm thinking about geting this LCD at Fry's.com current price, but I too will be using the Comcast HD capable dual dvr moto box. Right now I have a DVI box, but I will switch that out for the same box with the HDMI. I also plan on getting a 3 to 1 HDMI switcher box from monoprice. Does anyone use one of these HDMI switch boxes, and is it compatible (no problems)with this HDTV?
Beside the normal concerns of black level, motion blur/ghosting, and back light bleeding, I'm not sure if a 37 inch screen is big enough for my main viewing HDTV. I am going to keep my 32 inch SDTV 4:3 set for analog viewing and some DVD viewing. I was also looking at the 42 inch Westy 4207 and the 42 inch LG lcd models. A 42 inch screen would give me a much bigger picture on 4:3 digital channels, then a 37 inch set. The main reason I am considering the Olevia 337h is the price. It would be about four hundred less then the Westy 4207 and almost six hundred less then the LG. How much did screen size come in to play for 337h owners? Also, how are sports in HD on this set, both 720p(Fox & ESPN/ABC) and 1080i?
Thanks for any help and opinions.
