Sharp or Sony 1080P

Hello all,

I've read virtually all of the BIG Sony and Sharp 1080p threads, but I am still stumped as to which is better, or which I should buy.

I would love to have the Sony KDL-46V2500, but it is fractionally to big for my furniture. That leaves me with the KDL-40V2500 or the Sharp LC-42D62U. The Sharp is larger, but the contrast numbers of 1200:1 vs 7000:1 sort of scare me. Is that a Sony fiddle, or is it that much better? Can someone tell me why the would or would not purchase either set(I know about the banding)?

Since the Sharp can be had for a couple of hundred bucks less, if it had the "new glass" I would buy it.

Lost in LCD land..

The Sony's 7000:1 is really 1300:1 (Sony does maximum and typical) - The difference between the two (just based of specs) isn't going to be that much.
