Need advice getting a 42-46 Plasma/LCD

I need advice on how to go with a flat screen. My first inclination is to go with either a 42 Panasonic or Pioneer HDTV. However, as we will be watching SD on it, I am not a big fan of stretching and I know that with Plasmas its a good idea to not have the big black bars on the side.

I have seen the Sharp 46 Aquos and I was impressed by the picture. I also like the fact that its 1080p although resolution wont be the decision maker

I prefer the 46 inch as 42 seems small although I think TV stores make the 42 look smaller than it really is. I would imagine that it would look bigger in my house especially since I only have 27 inch direct view tv now.

Size isnt an issue as I have as nice front projection system but I dont want something small either and I do want something with decent blacks. I know the Panasonic does that well.

Any help possible would be nice

I personally like the new Aquos more than even the XBR2/3 Sony LCDs, best LCD on the market IMO. If you go plasma, go Pioneer Elite. I even like the regular Pioneers better than the 600U Panasonics.

I would get that over an LCD at least. Image retention isn't really that big of a deal and it can be fixed. I don't think you would see any real burn in from the black bars, and if you did that can be fixed too.
