Pioneer 5070HD vs 4270HD - please help me sort through the confusion

I have been reading various posts and opinions about the picture quaity and resolutions of these 2 sets, and I cant seem to come to any consensus. Some say the 4270HD has a slightly sharper image because of the smaller screen size. Others say it doesn't matter, because the 5070HD actually has a higher resolution which makes up for the larger size (1365 x 768 instead of 1024 x 768).

Which is it? Can someone help me understand the concepts behind this?

BTW, I'll be viewing this set from about 10 ft away.

I can say I'm in the market for a 4270 or a Panny 42 600u... but I can't say I've heard the 4270 is sharper than the 5070... I can't afford a 50 and I don't have space for one, but it'd still be nice to see someone comment on this.

In most cases a smaller screen is manufactured sharper than a larger one. The main reason is due too the smaller the screen the closer a person should be to it. This is theory of course.

BIGGER IS BETTER !! (In my book)

I would look at your expected seating distance as a strong determining factor rather than what you may have heard about the difference in picture quality. If your seating distance is too far, you won't be able to see the difference anyway. Have you viewed both sets? Look at them both from the distance you expect to sit and decide which one looks better to YOU. For a seating distance of 10' I'd go with the 50" for sure. Personally I agree with the others....bigger is better :D
