name your ONE favorite HD-DVD release

Thread Starter
I'm looking at building my HD-DVD library up (so far i only have superman returns, king kong, and goodfellas) and I'm certain this topic has been discussed but I think the best way to determine what discs I should get would be for other AVS members to post their ONE favorite HD-DVD thus far.

Gosh I freaking love this format. HD-DVD is my favorite technology to be released since the advent 5.1!

I know this can be hard choice but don't post ties or runners up.

By favorite I mean all things considered, picture quality, sound quality, quality of the movie itself, actors performances etc.

Most enjoyable movie I've watched has been Serenity.*

* It is 100x better if you've watched the Firefly series.

Batman Begins

Harry Potter Goblet of Fire, curtesy of Amazon.uk. Region free HD DVD is good. HD DVD forum - don't screw it up!

Serenity. I'm not sure why, but I just love that film. It makes me smile every time I watch it.

* If you're talking about the anticipation of getting it on/near its release date - Superman Returns, followed by Batman Begins. HP:GoF will be next on the list when a date is finally announced.

* If you're talking about great PQ - too many to list.

* If you're talking about great AQ - any disc that has a Dolby TrueHD track on it, and other action-heavy movies like King Kong weren't bad either.

I agree. I think it just has all the elements for a movie you can watch time after time.. action, humour, a decent plot that makes sense. And if you have been a fan of Firefly, just adds some nice closure to the unfortunate and premature end to a pretty damn good series.

Oh and the PQ is pretty nice too for an early HD-DVD release.

Superman Returns HANDS DOWN

Corpse Bride

I rented it from Netflix but after watching it this is a must own for me now and I will pick it up as soon as I can.

Grand Prix.

This movie got me to buy an Xbox 360. Not for the HD DVD add-on drive (though I might get one anyway), but for HD widescreen racing games!

The HD DVD that started it all for me...first purchased.

Training Day!

The Searchers. Why? It's arguably one of the greatest American movies ever made, and the HD DVD transfer is simply jaw dropping. If you want a relatively recent movie, I would suggest Pitch Black.

Serenity....
Still drives me crazy that they cancelled the show.

Just got a player last week.(XA1) So far I have only watched 4 rentals. The first disc I watched is my pick among the 4: ---THE The others were less eye popping---""The Italian Job.""_______Unforgiven and Million Dollar BABY and Lake House-----------None of these last 3 had that same "zing"

Corpse Bride

The Phantom of the Opera.

It was the first HD DVD I purchase, but it's just too hard for me to just turn on a random scene in a movie and stay for a while. PotO is just really easy to just turn on, and select a song, just like playing a CD or something, plus the AQ and PQ is amazing, so that's my #1.

Mission: Impossible 3

Apollo 13

Man has never done better than Apollo. Perhaps Orion will repeat the legacy (I'm very excited actually - another golden era in my lifetime perhaps).

Batman as a film/AQ choice.

Serenity as a PQ choice.
