I keep my old Sony 36XBR250 tube TV in the basement. Haven't watched that
TV in a long time, since I don't go down there that much. This week, I had relatives visiting and one of the is using the sofa bed in the basement. I showed her how to use the TV and the DirecTV DVR.
I had forgotten how good the picture looks on that old TV. DirecTV's signal is heavily compressed, so it looks awful on the 50" plasma and 46" LCD TVs that I tried and returned. (and don't even get me starated on what it looks like out of a front projector)
Can anyone tell me why?(the technical reasons)
Is there a LCD or plasma TV(46" or 50") that's capable of displaying SD or DirecTV picture better than the old 36XBR250 in my basement?
