HD-DVD world has most titles. - Page 2

I'll check out your site though. Amazon has good prices but their shipping and service sucks. I prefer DVD Empire because of their quick shipping and excellent service but some of their prices are no bargain.

You don't have any Alien D-Theater lying around do you? Probably not.

Alien was one of the first D-Theater titles to sell out and never come back, I'm sorry to say.

You should find that our service is just as good as DVD Empire, but also our prices and selection top theirs. We look foward to serving your hi-def needs.

And as far as sub-leasing Godaddy is not doing that, they have topped Network Solutions as the #1 registar for a reason, they offer a great service for a great price. It just happened that my rep at the company didn't do their job on time and entered the renewal a day later, which didn't cause a problem really, it just made it seem like the domain wasn't going to be renewed. Had I been a guy that only owned 1 domain I could have renewed online no problem, unfortunately for me we have over 300 domains so we have a rep at the company that handles everything. If you haven't given Godaddy a try you might want to instead of paying Network Solutions high prices.

So Ph8te, are you Ph8 , a moderator on the "other forum" ?

Because it sure explains a lot if your are.

It's interesting that you parrot MovieMinded's excuses, when plenty of us actual customers have provided incontrovertible proof that we have been lied to and generally treated like crap.

It would be nice if you told the truth just once. Seriously just once.

The full details of my experience with hddvdworld are here along with quite a few other people that have had similar problems.

Here's a quick rundown:

Quote:

I ordered Planet Earth HD DVD and a couple of other discs.

It eventually came out that these discs had been shipped in two separate orders, apparently from two separate warehouse (main order from NY, Planet Earth from Florida).

I was told that they had shipped on the same day.

I eventually managed to get a tracking number out of customer service, after using the magic phrase "delivery confirmation number"

Here are the (abbreviated) tracking details for the two parcels

EV98 2797 464U S
Delivered Abroad, May 11, 2007, 4:55 pm, AUSTRALIA
Out of Foreign Customs, May 09, 2007, 10:05 am, AUSTRALIA
Enroute, May 03, 2007, 12:17 am, JAMAICA, NY 11499
International Dispatch, May 03, 2007, 12:17 am, KENNEDY AMC

Electronic Shipping Info Received, May 02, 2007

EV98 2948 323U S
Delivered Abroad, May 15, 2007, 4:49 pm, AUSTRALIA
Out of Foreign Customs, May 15, 2007, 3:45 am, AUSTRALIA
Arrived Abroad, May 14, 2007, 5:48 am, AUSTRALIA

It is quite obvious from this that not only did they ship from the same NY location, but that they were shipped 7 days apart.

This is backed up by the postage label on the second parcel

You can see that the parcel was mailed on the 9th May from the 11720 (New York) post code.

The real kicker with dealing with this mob, was that in the simple process of trying to figure out what was happening with my order, I was:

* accused of lying,
* accused of being cheap,
* accused of using a free postage offer that I wasn't eligible for,
* accused of fraud,
* accused of making fraudulent claims, and
* accused of trademark infringement (yes you heard right, according to a statement on the owner's myspace page, the mere typing of the dvd world name is a trademark infringement )

There were a big group of us that had the same thing happend (split shipment of the Planet Earth discs), and it became quite obvious that although the website showed over 500 discs in stock, that they did not have stock on hand at all.

If you are even considering dealing with this outfit, take the time to read through pages 57 - 77 of the archived thread.

Also, it is standard practice for HDDVDWorld to charge your credit card immediately when you place a pre-order ... so be prepared to be without your money for a while if you order in advance.

Funnily enough Amazon and DVDPacific manage to fulfil their pre-orders without having to do this.

Caveat Emptor.

Andrew.

One last insight into the customer service focus of this company.

This was recently posted as a thread by MovieMinded at the "other forum" under the thread title Information On Use Of The DVD World Name

Quote:

The DVD World name and logo are registered trademarks of The DVD World Company. The name and logo may not be used by anyone without the permission of The DVD World Company, including in the use of the name or logo in reviews. Any negative comments made using the DVD World name or logo can constitute Trademark Infringement and other illegal actions which are punishable by fines and damage claims.

We will no longer take lightly to false claims being made using our company's trademark on these or any forums. If any are made our Legal Dept. will now get your information from the administrators of this forum and persue legal action against you and any company you might be related to, which is within our legal rights to do so as the trademark owner of the name and logo.

After being questioned on his terrible knowledge of trademark law, and told by the owner of the forum that if that was his attitude then he would not be welcome, the post has been edited to say:

Quote:

It seems we have no choice to let anyone say whatever they want to about our name, even though it is within our rights to take action against anyone that does and is common practice for several companies, including The Walt Disney Company. But since we have no choice everyone is free to say whatever they want, whether it's false or not and we won't do anything about it.

So feel free to shop with this guy, but don't expect him to be happy if you try and let anyone know if you have any problems (and you more than likely will).

Andrew.

I love HD DVD world. I ordered The Ultimate Matrix collection but they shipped me the complete collection instead. I actually prefer the complete collection though because it has cover art!

Umm, the Complete collection is $10-15 cheaper than the Ultimate collection and has far less contents.

How was this a positive result again ?

If you read through the archived thread and the negative feedback thread there are plenty of US customers who have had bad dealing as well.

I think this picture from MovieMinded's myspace page pretty much sums up his attitude to his customers:

Yes, I had to rehost the photo, myspace doesn't let you link directly, but if you look at his page the photo is there.

Any chance of an answer to my question ?

PMSL - please all tell them that 'DVD World' infringes on the 'DVD' trademark owned by the DVD Forum LOL!

I might send some C&D letters myself!

AndrewW yes its me and the posts you have pulled are from FEBRUARY which is before the current "debacle" happened, I have stated MANY times that I have been a previous customer and have had everything handled to my satisfaction....I dont see how it explains "a lot" as at the time I only had a few experiences which were handled to the customers satisfaction (that I can remember).....I havent tired to defend ANYONE and have only given a basic explanation of what "could have" occurred, as you can see I havent posted anything recently on the matter and my statements were valid for the time they were made, I am sorry that you had issues with the company but I am not one of those people that had issues, my orders have been completed to my satisfaction.....I truly dont feel that I should have to defend myself as I have stated previously in the other forum AND to you personally via PM my feelings on the matter....

OK point taken, and to be honest I really didn't look at the date of your post.

It just caught my eye that the 'explanation' you gave was exactly the excuse that MovieMinded was using to attempt to explain the delays in shipping our orders.

Cheers,

Andrew.

No problems mate it seems that people have done this twice though here and "there" without looking a the dates, you know where I stand on this subject now and I dont think I have deviated from it, there have been people with bad experiences and the issue hasn't been resolved to their liking, since I am not one of those people I cant back it up since I haven't had the same experience.....

Classic! MovieMinded there is an old business rule, if you screw over 1 customer it does 10 times the damage of treating one customer right. Every thread you get into prior unhappy customers come crawling out of the woodwork creating more damage than good. Something your so called legal dept. can't even seem to handle. Since I have seen this on three seperate forums it might be a good idea to advertise and post elsewhere. Like the dvdtimes forum in Europe where you are the biggest supplier of region 1 dvd's. You founded the DVD World company at 14?????????? You received the Ronald Regan (by the way, Reagan is the correct spelling) Republican Gold Medal for Business Ethics??? Not from your dvd customers. Couldn't find your 5 out of 5 star rating at Yahoo. You were named business man of the year twice in 2004 and 2005? By who?

I won't even get into the fact that persue is spelled pursue, administrators are not going to give up private information of members to a third party and providing poor customer service and then making threats to quell customer complaints is not good business. I will refrain from commenting on your in depth knowledge (or lack of) trademark infringement or what everyone else in the world would refer to as libel, but your legal dept. should have clued you in on that. Now if the claims are true it is not libel at all, just bad business.

he he, I posted that pic in the Forum he runs at Highdef Digest. It was removed. But seriously, he has some major complaints over there. He even threatened to sue unhappy customers if they tell anyone.

This guy seems like a BS artist extraordinaire!! Read his myspace page, it is ridiculous!
Well movie minded really does have a way with his customers.

Apparently the only reason I have aired my complaints is because apparently I work for or I am affiliated with a competitor

I've posted a detailed thread here asking for proof.

But MM has been silent in response, not that I am at all surprised.

If you look at the hddvdworldonline site here there are a list of awards that they are supposed to have won.

Quote:

NRCC Businessman Of The Year - 2004
NRCC Businessman Of The Year - 2005
Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal For Business Ethics Excellence - 2004
Honorary Chairman Of The Board Of Business Advisory (Washington D.C.)
Member Of The Presidential Business Committee (Washington D.C.)

bwahahahah I take it back, he probably did get awared the first 3.

Have a read here

The awards mean nothing, they are sent out at random as a means of raising money for the NRCC.

Quote:

Yes, the Tom DeLay and the NRCC folks have been giving these bogus "awards" out for years, thanks to the innovative (and highly paid) minds at a fundraising outfit called InfoCision. The company has come under a bit of fire for their practices before:

InfoCision began raising funds for the NRCC in 1993, under then Chairman Bill Paxon (R-N.Y.) who represented what is now Reynolds' district.

This is a proven product that has worked, Reynolds said.

InfoCision's fundraising tactics and operating costs have sparked controversy in the past. InfoCision's spokesman, Steve Brubaker, senior vice president of corporate affairs, was not available for comment.

InfoCision often tries to recruit new donors by using such fundraising gimmicks as notifying prospects that they have been named businessman of the year, or physician of the year. Then prospects are asked to shell out $500 for a full-page newspaper advertisement or several thousand dollars for an honorary dinner. But the primary purpose of the pitch is to raise money for the NRCC.

Quote:

Put down your drink, though, because you're gonna love the story of "Republican of the Year" (God, that's sweet!) Mark A. Grethen. Seems he couldn't make it to the ceremony:

A previous commitment will keep a Suffolk man from traveling to Washington next month to accept a Republican of the Year award: He's serving a 26-year prison sentence for sex crimes involving children.

I don't know what's worst; MovieMinded lying to people about being late with movies (I placed a big order with him and besides most of it being late, it wasn't that bad) or you AndrewW e-stalking him all over the internet.

It goes beyond "warning" people when half your posting history at multiple forums is just attacking him, posting personal information about the guy and overall just being a total *******.
