I'll check out your site though. Amazon has good prices but their shipping and service sucks. I prefer DVD Empire because of their quick shipping and excellent service but some of their prices are no bargain.

Mike this site has a dedicated thread over at anotehr forum and out of all the posts there has only been a few negative responses and those have to do with the shipper delaying the package once they have it in thier posession.

I ordered Planet Earth HD DVD and a couple of other discs.

It eventually came out that these discs had been shipped in two separate orders, apparently from two separate warehouse (main order from NY, Planet Earth from Florida).

I was told that they had shipped on the same day.

I eventually managed to get a tracking number out of customer service, after using the magic phrase "delivery confirmation number"

Here are the (abbreviated) tracking details for the two parcels

It is quite obvious from this that not only did they ship from the same NY location, but that they were shipped 7 days apart.

This is backed up by the postage label on the second parcel



You can see that the parcel was mailed on the 9th May from the 11720 (New York) post code.

The real kicker with dealing with this mob, was that in the simple process of trying to figure out what was happening with my order, I was:

* accused of lying,
* accused of being cheap,
* accused of using a free postage offer that I wasn't eligible for,
* accused of fraud,
* accused of making fraudulent claims, and
* accused of trademark infringement (yes you heard right, according to a statement on the owner's myspace page, the mere typing of the dvd world name is a trademark infringement )


There were a big group of us that had the same thing happend (split shipment of the Planet Earth discs), and it became quite obvious that although the website showed over 500 discs in stock, that they did not have stock on hand at all.

If you are even considering dealing with this outfit, take the time to read through pages 57 - 77 of the archived thread.

Also, it is standard practice for HDDVDWorld to charge your credit card immediately when you place a pre-order ... so be prepared to be without your money for a while if you order in advance.

Funnily enough Amazon and DVDPacific manage to fulfil their pre-orders without having to do this.

The DVD World name and logo are registered trademarks of The DVD World Company. The name and logo may not be used by anyone without the permission of The DVD World Company, including in the use of the name or logo in reviews. Any negative comments made using the DVD World name or logo can constitute Trademark Infringement and other illegal actions which are punishable by fines and damage claims.

We will no longer take lightly to false claims being made using our company's trademark on these or any forums. If any are made our Legal Dept. will now get your information from the administrators of this forum and persue legal action against you and any company you might be related to, which is within our legal rights to do so as the trademark owner of the name and logo.

It seems we have no choice to let anyone say whatever they want to about our name, even though it is within our rights to take action against anyone that does and is common practice for several companies, including The Walt Disney Company. But since we have no choice everyone is free to say whatever they want, whether it's false or not and we won't do anything about it.

Yes, the Tom DeLay and the NRCC folks have been giving these bogus "awards" out for years, thanks to the innovative (and highly paid) minds at a fundraising outfit called InfoCision. The company has come under a bit of fire for their practices before:

InfoCision began raising funds for the NRCC in 1993, under then Chairman Bill Paxon (R-N.Y.) who represented what is now Reynolds' district.

This is a proven product that has worked, Reynolds said.

InfoCision's fundraising tactics and operating costs have sparked controversy in the past. InfoCision's spokesman, Steve Brubaker, senior vice president of corporate affairs, was not available for comment.

InfoCision often tries to recruit new donors by using such fundraising gimmicks as notifying prospects that they have been named businessman of the year, or physician of the year. Then prospects are asked to shell out $500 for a full-page newspaper advertisement or several thousand dollars for an honorary dinner. But the primary purpose of the pitch is to raise money for the NRCC.

Put down your drink, though, because you're gonna love the story of "Republican of the Year" (God, that's sweet!) Mark A. Grethen. Seems he couldn't make it to the ceremony:
