I also saw the IMAX and regular version...maybe that's my problem as well.
How many here that think the quality is great are watching it on a screen (especially plasma or lcd or dlp) that's smaller than 80 inches wide? Smaller screens will definitely be brighter and sharper with these display types.
I'm watching it on a 96" CRT FP system, and although my other sources (including OTA HD) look fantastic, SR is a step in the wrong direction for my setup.
I AM using the Xbox 360 Add-On though....but the VGA output from the 360 games (not to mention the various 720p video clips/movie trailers that are downloadable) look fine.
Thinking something was "off", I even recalibrated the projector's BLACK & White levels using an OTA HD color bar test pattern this past weekend. SR is still soft lacks detail, and is not as eye popping as I expected/wanted. Very similar to the SD version.
King Kong looks better (especially detail-wise), and I thought SR would be a better showcase.
Maybe I'll have greater satisfaction with MI:III............
