Excellent, looking forward to Mullholland drive too.

Indeed, Mulholland Dr. will be the first high definition release of a title that I'd put in my own personal top 10 list. I can't wait.

Wow, Serpico, Mulholland drive and Terminator 2. Thank you Studio Canal!

I prefer theatrical release.

Good news!

Anyone think it will be better quality than the BD?

At the very least, I think we can expect a completely different master. Better? Perhaps, perhaps not - but it will certainly be different.

based on my more than positive experience with King Kong, I'll be looking forward to picking up 3 Days Of The Condor and hopefully Le Pacte des Loups, if it has an English sub track.

The clips of T2 shown in the disc trailer on KK looked excellant. I haven't seen the D-VHS version or the Bd version, but I would be quite happy if that were the general quality of the release. In fact, I didn't expect to ever want to buy it again for a long time, but based on what I saw I probably will end up doing just that.

I hope RAN and Brotherhood of the Wolf have English subs. Hoping for the DC of the latter too.

These releases will really drain my wallet. I will pick up 5 of these including T2.

My French is a little rusty but this should help:

Studio Canal confirmed about fifteen titles will form part of the second wave of HD DVD's on March 5, 2007:

The Graduate - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061722/
Terminator 2: Judgement Day - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103064/
Ran - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089881/
Three Days of the Condor - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073802/
Le Cercle rouge - The Red Circle - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065531/
La Grande vadrouille - The Grand Stroll? - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060474/
Million Dollar Baby - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405159/
Mulholland Dr. - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0166924/

Not officially confirmed, but probably part of this wave:

Traffic - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181865/
Ali - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0248667/
Arizona Dream - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106307/
L'ArmƩe des ombres - Army of Shadows - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064040/
Serpico - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070666/
Le Pacte des Loups - Brotherhood of the Wolf - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0237534/

Hopefully Lion's Gate will come around by then like people are proclaiming and T2 won't even be an issue.
Arizona Dream!?!? tell me that's not a joke. I'll have to pick that up along w/ T2

They say that they are gonna Print 4,000 Copy of each movies for all Europe (and 1000 for France).

And they say PROBABLY on March 7.. so it's not a sure thing..

Oh thank god, I thought T2 was a Blue Ray Exclusive.

Right now it is in the US.

Luckily many companies sell foreign distribution rights...and thus Studio Canal has the ability to produce and distribute the movies that they have European rights to on the format of their choice, which happens to be HD DVD.

Another issue that works in our(HD DVD's) favor is that there is not(yet at least) any mechanism for Region coding, so we can buy and play disks from other regions. BD does have region coding...and the HD DVD group is exploring Region coding. It is believed that they will set something up soon.

So how does one go about ordering this DVD? And what's roughly the final cost, in dollars, to purchase & ship it over?

This is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time, so I think I NEED this title.

Thanks.

The spec says

Sous-titres :
Anglais

I think it has English sub.

And now we have to worry about the speed-up issue.

Since I'm new to this stuff and want to only watch HD-DVD without overanalyzing it, can you In simple terms please tell me what this means?

So far the audio on the Studio Canal HD DVDs has the PAL 4% speedup.

You can really tell with voices...they just sound off with the Canal HD DVDs.

Hopefully they will fix this issue though.

It's VERY annoying.

The French HD-DVD of Total Recall includes some upcoming clips, including T2. If the clips are indicative of the final product, this could be good!

I've rented the Blu-ray T2, and while to me it looks quite good, this new release could be even better.

So does it sound like Alvin & the Chipmunks or something? The audio sounds sped up, but the action on screen doesn't? How do the two stay in sync?

The La Haine release doesn't have this issue. Please don't inaccurately cast every release in this poor light!

That's not entirely accurate. It may be that some of them are at a 4% higher pitch, but they are certainly not sped up.

Yes it will because the Lionsgate BD of T2 is crap.

And I'm not being a guinea pig for any of these releases. It's a total crapshoot which ones will or will not have sped up audio. I got burned with Total Recall and that was enough.
