muzo, please tell me you did not try to flash the new firmware with wireless network... please... it's a suicide!

cHarOn, what if muzo tries to re-flash it WITHOUT any HDD attached? Is that possible?
post #243 of 515
yep is possible without any problems
post #244 of 515
Don't worry cHarOn ,
I flash the firmaware with a crossed cable and no by the wirless.
I formated my hdd in fat32 thinking that it would be easy to convert to ntfs it when the ftp would be ok with ntfs .
i don't know if it will be one day. Ext3 need to put a driver on your hdd what is not very cool when you go with your box outside. If there 's no choice I will format it.

Another question : I always have to unmount and mount the hdd drive with telnet when I want to ul. Is there an existing script ? Dos the pb exist with ext3 ?

Best regards

English:
Firmware 1.2.157 little Update: www.hdd-player.de

New at 1.2.157
----> added cpmovie, cpphoto, cpmusic
----> script starts from usb or internal HDD

Code:
Patched firmware for Novatron NTD36HD ftp,http,telnet,ext3,usb2hdd and init_script* (based on build 157)
========================================================================================================

---- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! ---- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! ----

If you brick your player using this firmware the only way
to debrick it is in rescue mode through tftp.

Changelog: 1.1.157 to 1.2.157

 1. Added cpmovie, cpphoto, cpmusic, scripts and sleep /usr/local/bin

 2. cpmovie: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
* * * * * * *MOVIE everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD MOVIE Folder
* * * * * * *
* * cpmusic: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
* * * * * * *MUSIC everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD MUSIC Folder*
* * * * * * *
* * cpphoto: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
* * * * * * *PHOTO everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD PHOTO Folder* * * * * * * * * *

 3. Changed /etc/inittab to start both of them:
* *# Startup the system
* *::once:/usr/curacao/curacao
* *::once:/usr/sbin/telnetd &
* *::once:/usr/local/bin/ftpd &
* *::once:/usr/local/bin/shttpd -d / &
* *::once:/usr/local/bin/scripts
* *
 4. ::once:/usr/local/bin/scripts

* * This script is really simple it looks in root of the internal hdd or on an usb device
* * for an script called init_script, if there is an file called init_script it will starts this script
* * Whats the use of that? Really simple you can mount NFS shares ;-) you can run the cpmovie, cpphoto, ....
* * commands. or everything you want. An init_script to mount an NFS share or to do the 3 copy routines
* * are in the zip you downloaded ;-)

Usage:

 1. Install just like a usual firmware upgrade

 2. You must format your HDD with ext3, fat32 is no option anymore because users have many problems with it.

 3. Log in using telnet: user = root, password = hdd

 4. Log in using ftp (Upload works! but not everything): user = ftp, password = ftp* * *if you want full write access (create directories, .......)you have to* * * * *login with user = root, pass = hdd
* * Note: The ftpd takes 10-20 seconds to respond! Be patient

 5. Log in with your Browser to download files (only Download)

 6. To get to your Harddisk you need go to /tmp/ide/part1

Thanks:

 Thx go to the admin from www.hdd-player.de who makes it possible that Novatron includes ext3 support.
 Thx goes to Dirk alias (dm) who helps me and compiles some nights.
 Thx goes to OK from the Mvix Community who gets the stuff working (ftpd and shttpd)

 I wish you all good luck.

I hope you like the new features

Hello, i'm a french "Cibox" user, and i've done a "little update" with 1.2.157 firmware.
It's a great job you've done, with ftp, and scripts possibilities.
I've a problem with subtitles .srt, fonts are too big, and i don't know if it's possible to change. Do you have an idea ?
post #249 of 515
@Bono2007: sorry but i cant change that because it is closed source.

cHarOn99, great work, well done. Although I haven't tested any of this firmware, I am sure a lot of people will get excited

Please include, if possible in the next release, an intelligent subtitle code/routine that will remove the < i > and < /i > (as well as < b > and < /b >) from subtitle text in the .srt format that is very common!

ThAnKs!

I'm using UltraEdit with a little macro (copy paste):

ColumnModeOff
HexOff
UnixReOff

cHarOn99 you are becoming my best friend

That's it, a simple way for ALL PLAYERS to remove these tags, since they can't reproduce a font with italics or bold. Well done again. Please include that in the next release!

I only wished we could find out what type of binary files those OSD.big.font.8859 are

Hi Guyz,

Is it true that with internal hard disk formatted to NTFS, you can't write with ftp?
Is it any way around it?

Would it be possible to integrate a torrent client in the firmware? Like utorrent?

Thanks

cHarOn, please remember: let's make it simple for the Korean manufacturer... No font-style change, no font-size change, nothing complicated (but there are bugs in some characters).

Just to have latin (base-1) on the first 128 characters and instead of extended latin, to have Greek (codepage 1253 in Windows) in the other 128 characters (8-bit ASCII table).

The font itself is not ideal; there are some problems in the punctuation marks [. , ! ?] but let's get their committment first

Also, there is some text in english that sucks bigtime, like errors etc. (noticed something yesterday when I tried to access network files--ach, Korean English). Can you send me the text strings used in the GUI so that I can "improve" their English?

Danke schoen, Konsti

Ventura1977, the additional functionality such as FTP works only on EXT3 partitions simply because NTFS was made to run as a READ-ONLY system.

If you want NTFS, then use the appropriate NDAS driver on your computer. If you format/convert to EXT3 then I am sure you can use FTP and other new features.

Regarding torrent client... you have to be kidding me... this is a media player!
post #257 of 515
@Konsti: torrent is not really an Problem it can run on the IAMM but damn i dont wanna do that because the iamm or better all other mediaboxes are on the limit already so better get an NAS for Torrent Downloading, i bought an QMAP TS-201 there you can over the gui add torrents and ftp downloads ;-) this devices have better power. So let the IAMM be what he is an mediaplayer. I have only some Future Ideas an thats internet Radio because it is MEDIA and some little improvements, so lets see what i can do.
The NTD37HD is already on the way to gets released so it can be that there wont be many updates for the NTD36hd in the Future ;-(.

Damn! With the speed they are doing the updates, those guys at Novatron, I will not buy NTD37HD! I left DViCO for Novatron, sold my TViX M-3000U for this box!

So please, yes, cHarOn, do concentrate on possible bugs on this system. Overall I am pleased but not thrilled, so let's get the best we can from our investment. I just can't change media players every year!

cHarOn, can you PM me the English text strings? I have a couple of suggestions....!
post #259 of 515
which text strings do you mean?!?! in the gui?!?! i dont have access to the gui so we cant edit this ;-(
I must say I´m very happy with the NTD36HD because it plays everything what i need, the perfect device will never come, the best device would be an nas with ntd36hd combined. the ntd37hd will also be no option for me only devices with 863x sigma chips could be an idea because good performance, but right now all upcoming devices has only an minimal pro with the 8623 sigmas! I would love to see an other Mediaplayer with good performance and without an sigma chip and with opensource firmware (really Opensource)
and nas features but i think this is an dream which dont come true ;-(

It is a dream, most of us dream... OpenSource? They are laughing, right now...

When AVC and H.264 will be replacing Xvid and DivX, then I will replace my NTD36-HD...!

I thought that you had access to the strings--sorry about that. So don't you actually compile the firmware? You mean the GUI code is locked? How do you install a service, e.g. FTP? Is it there, so you only start it?
post #261 of 515
yep thats the difference ftp and the other stuff i can start per init in the scripts on the iamm but the gui and everything what you start inside the gui is closed whith no chance to edit it, there is also an way to make your own gui but thats to many work for such an device which have an lifetime of 1 or 2 years?!??!

Even a copy of the curacao binary (before it is encoded into FLT by ELF2FLT) in ELF format would be nice

The binary used is a FLT file, and to get there, there must be an ELF binary to start with...then we could use IDA to find useful functions and hex-edit them in the FLT binary.

[edit:]
With that I don't think there would be a problem with the 'closed-source' GUI?

cHarOn you old bugger, you've created a thread for the NTD37-HD already? But it's not available!!!

Bono2007, what are you talking about? The NTD36-HD only plays WMV HD, not HD DVD files. This device doesn't support H.264 or AVC, unfortunately, unless it's MPEG-2 HD.
post #270 of 515
next month or in 2 months it will be avaible ;-)
