Iamm NTD36HD by Novatron - Page 14

post #391 of 491
OK thank you for this quick answer.

Now I can buy my server NAS Synology DS-107
post #392 of 491
Thread Starter
adolphe1970 welcome to the thread.

I confirm that the IAMM NTD36-HD works perfectly with my Synology DS-106e, and as cHarOn correctly said, you must create a "public" folder accessed by all users (hence "guest") even a Windows PC (without password) for the IAMM or CineBox to work.

If you have cabled ethernet (instead of wireless) the connection works without any problems. Read your DS-107 manual.

In the earlier DS-106 firmwares, although there was a public folder and a guest account, the Synology rejected the IAMM because it did not have a "network name". The guys fixed it and it works perfectly now (in the logs you will see the IP address instead of the network name of the IAMM/CineBox).

Ok Thank you for this information. For my connection, I have a point of wifi access connected to a HUB ethernet.

Now I wait my Synology DS-107 and after, when I shall have it, I shall announce you my impressions.

Thanks again for the quick answer

Hi to all,

It has been several times that I have problems with my novatron player.
It's formated in ext3 with the cHarOn99 firmware. It works well in wifi and FTP.
Normaly I delete files with my FTP browser or by USB laptop PC.
But up to now I couldn't access to the HD. It didn't appair in the novatron browser.

The last time it has happened I repair HDD with a live CD in linux.

I don't understand what it could happen.

Best regards

Hi Everyone, this maybe a little old hat, but i recently transferred a dts 5.1 music cd to the NTD36HD, but rather then music , i got white noise. is there a fix or work around.
post #396 of 491
DTS Music dont works on the IAMM because it can only handle 48khz and all the Music DTS are 44,1khz and thats the Problem.

Hello,

I need help to apply the procedure of recovery due to a crash of installation of firmware. I compiled a new firmware from the sources of MVix and I have a crash in the starting up of my cibox. I need to apply the procedure of recovery, but I have neither the documentation, nor binary.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi everybody

I just purchased an used IAMM and thanks to help I found on this forum I could set it up correctly.
I still have a few question and I would appreciate if any of you can help me. The answer might already be in a previous post but I could not find it.
Here are the questions:

The firmware I have reported on the screen is 1.1.160, I noticed that there is a 1.2.160. Is there a big difference? Is it worth to upgrade?

My disk is formatted NTFS and I tried to use the NDAS link but transfer rate is very low. I would like to format it in EXT3 and using a movable hd to transfer data from my PC. In this case, in order to use the CPMOVIE function, the movable HD (the one used for the transfer) must be formatted in EXT3 format as the one into the IAMM or can be a standard Windows NTFS one?

To use CPMOVIE I need to:
1 Format the HD as EXT3
2 copy in root the INIT.inf file
Is this correct?

If on the movable HD I have the MOVIE directory with a movie inside, does this add the file to the ones in the same directory already on the HD of the IAMM or does it delete what is inside it (IAMM HD) and copy the new one?

Sorry for my basic language but my technical skills are pretty basic.
Any help will be really appreciated.
Ciao

Luca

the transfer speed wont go faster sorry for that the ftp solution is mainly for peoples who dont wanna use the ndas or cant use ndas because the use mac or linux.

You dont have to format your internal hdd to ext3 this is only needed if you wanna use the cp scripts and the ftp-upload.

the usb hdd dont needs ext3 also again only if you wanna transfer files from teh iamm to your external hdd then you need ext3.

To use CPMOVIE I need to:
1 Format the HD as EXT3 (internal yes)
2 copy in root the INIT.inf file (no you have to put it to the external hdd specially for the copy scripts so when you plugin the usb hdd and then powerup the iamm the script will copy everything from the usb hdd (MOVIE) into the internal hdd
Is this correct?

If you dont user the AUTOstart function in the Iamm then you should better go with 1.3.159 also my last version is also 1.3.160

cHarOn

Thank you so much for your prompt answer.
Reading previous post I realized FTP is as slow as NDAS.
This is the main reason why I think that using the script with an external hdd would be the fastest and easyest way to transfer files.

The files that are copied via the script will delete the ones already on the internal hdd or they will be added to these ones?

The following line is taken from the TXT file of the firmware:
7. To get the new script and busybox working you need to extract the INIT.zip to your internal ext3 HDD
This is different from what you are telling me in this post, it seems the INIT.inf file goes in the internal hdd and not the external one.
Which is correct?

Thanks again, and sorry to bother you.

Hi cHarOn99

I followed your instructions to format the Iamm HD as EXT3 and it worket but I have a problem.
In fact, from Ubuntu I can see the HD but it does not allow me to copy any file because it says I have no permissions.
What shall I do?

I tried to access via ftp wbut with no success.
I gave the IAMM a static IP address but no way to access it.
In the FTP prognam I put the IP address as Server and then user and password as explaned by you.
If I ping the address it responds.
Any idea? no way even via http.

Thanks

I sorted out the permissions problem so now I can write and read all the files.
IP link works fine and in my case i definitely faster and more stable than NDAS. Thanks

I copied the .init file but I don't know how to personalize it.
In particular theese tree lines:

MOUNT_POINT What shall I put?
SYSTEM_PATH What shall I put?
IP_ADDRESS I put my IP static address

Please help.
Thanks

the initscript is only needed when you wanna mount an nfs share or when you wanna use the copyscripts.

Quote:

#!/bin/sh

# When you wanna use something of it you have to remove the #
# #/usr/local/bin/cpmovie ===> no function
# /usr/local/bin/cpmovie ===> function

#------------------------------------------
# auto-nfs-mount
# One command line param = path to partition
#------------------------------------------
# Modify the following parameters to suit!!

MOUNT_POINT="${1}/NFS_dir"
IP_ADDR="172.16.1.1"
SYS_PATH="/mnt/hdb1/movies"

[ -z "${1}" ] && exit
[ ! -d "${1}" ] && exit

# Mount the initial dir
[ ! -d "${MOUNT_POINT}" ] && mkdir "${MOUNT_POINT}"
mount -t nfs "${IP_ADDR}:${SYS_PATH}" "${MOUNT_POINT}" -o ro,nolock
cd "${MOUNT_POINT}"

# Create separate mount points for each sub-directory
for i in * ; do
[ ! -d "${i}" ] && continue
[ ! -d "${1}/${i}" ] && mkdir "${1}/${i}"
mount -t nfs "${IP_ADDR}:${SYS_PATH}/${i}" "${1}/${i}" -o ro,nolock
done

# copy content from an USB Hdd connected to the IAMM to the internal ext3 HDD
# cpmovie = copies from the USB/MOVIE Folder everything to HDD/MOVIE
# cpmusic = copies from the USB/MUSIC Folder everything to HDD/MUSIC
# cpphoto = copies from the USB/PHOTO Folder everything to HDD/PHOTO
# cpauto = copies from the USB/AUTO Folder everything to HDD/AUTO
# cproot = copies from the USB/ROOT Folder everything to HDD/
# cp2usb = copies from the HDD/2USB Folder everything to USB/

# /usr/local/bin/cpmovie
# /usr/local/bin/cpmusic
# /usr/local/bin/cpphoto
# /usr/local/bin/cpauto
# /usr/local/bin/cproot
# /usr/local/bin/cp2usb

# include new commands to the Iamm (hifan from the Mvix Community)
# /sys Folder from teh zip must be on the internal HDD!

ROOT=$1
cd $ROOT
/bin/sh sys/init/init_commands $ROOT > $LOG 2>&1

# call more scripts as needed

The IP Adress you should insert an IP Adress to an NFS Share! if you dont have an NFS Server running you can comment it out! or delete the lines

Quote:

MOUNT_POINT="${1}/NFS_dir"
IP_ADDR="172.16.1.1"
SYS_PATH="/mnt/hdb1/movies"

[ -z "${1}" ] && exit
[ ! -d "${1}" ] && exit

# Mount the initial dir
[ ! -d "${MOUNT_POINT}" ] && mkdir "${MOUNT_POINT}"
mount -t nfs "${IP_ADDR}:${SYS_PATH}" "${MOUNT_POINT}" -o ro,nolock
cd "${MOUNT_POINT}"

# Create separate mount points for each sub-directory
for i in * ; do
[ ! -d "${i}" ] && continue
[ ! -d "${1}/${i}" ] && mkdir "${1}/${i}"
mount -t nfs "${IP_ADDR}:${SYS_PATH}/${i}" "${1}/${i}" -o ro,nolock
done

Ok and now to the copy commands :-)

Quote:

# /usr/local/bin/cpmovie
# /usr/local/bin/cpmusic
# /usr/local/bin/cpphoto
# /usr/local/bin/cpauto
# /usr/local/bin/cproot
# /usr/local/bin/cp2usb

when you remove an # the script will get active when you boot up the iamm and copy the content on an usb HDD inside the described Folders everything to the iamm if you use Ext3 on the internal HDD.
When you also wanna copy to usb then also the usb HDD must be ext3.

and now to the last section on the init script :-)

Quote:

ROOT=$1
cd $ROOT
/bin/sh sys/init/init_commands $ROOT > $LOG 2>&1

this activates the new busybox with more commands is specially interesting for telnet access because you can do more things also send the hdd to an sleepmode :-) and other things.

I hope now is everything clear.

cHarOn
post #410 of 491
Thanks a lot.
Now it is much clear.
I only need the copy utility from an USB external disk.
So the only thing I need to do is to remove the # where needed.
Thanks again.
Ciao

Luca
post #411 of 491
yes you are right :-) so you can also only put the initscript to your external hdd and when you plugin the usb drive and an # is removed then when you start up your iamm with pluged in usb hdd it will search for the initscript and starts the process :-)
Oh but please watch out dont use an windows editor!!
You have to take ultraedit or something like that that the unix style dont gets defect.

Hello dudes :-) here is the next firmware from me for the iamm 1.4.159
i dont wanna support the 160er build anymore because many users are reporting problems so i changed some parts on the 159er build.
You can Download it at

http://www.hdd-player.de/phpBB2/inde...10016#msg10016

BUT YOU HAVE TO BE REGISTERED THAT YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT!!!

Quote:

Patched firmware for Novatron NTD36HD ftp,telnet,ext3,copyscripts,init_script and commands (based on build 159)
============================================================ ============================================================ ======

---- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! ---- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! ----

If you brick your player using this firmware the only way
to debrick it is in rescue mode through tftp.

Features: 1.4.159

1. Added new busybox inside the firmware!

awk,basename,busybox2,cat,chmod,clear,cmp,cut,dirname,du,ech o,egrep,env,fgrep,find,free,grep,hdparm,head,insmod,killall, lash,length,lsmod,
mv,netstat,pidof,printf,ps,realpath,renice,reset,rmdir,route ,sed,seq,top,touch,uname,uptime,usleep,wget

2. Copy scripts modified with -r (Recursive inside) -u dont works and is not supported by busybox ;-(

cpmovie: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
MOVIE everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD MOVIE Folder

cpmusic: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
MUSIC everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD MUSIC Folder

cpphoto: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
PHOTO everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD PHOTO Folder

cproot: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is an Folder called
ROOT everything inside gets copied to the internal EXT3 HDD

cp2usb: plugin USB -HDD -Stick or -CAM to your IAMM, if on the device is the init script with
enabled cp2usb everything inside the folder 2USB on the internal HDD gets copied to the
usb EXT3 device

3. Changed /etc/inittab to start both of them:
# Startup the system
:nce:/usr/curacao/curacao
:nce:/usr/sbin/telnetd &
:nce:/usr/local/bin/ftpd &
:nce:/usr/local/bin/scripts

4. :nce:/usr/local/bin/scripts

This script is really simple it looks in root of the internal hdd or on an usb device
for an script called init_script, if there is an file called init_script it will starts this script
Whats the use of that? Really simple you can mount NFS shares ;-) you can run the cpmovie, cpphoto, ....
commands. or everything you want. An init_script to mount an NFS share or to do the 3 copy routines
are in the zip you downloaded ;-)

5. Added an FTP Server so can FTP to your Device using the IP and for login user:root pass:hdd

6. Changed the Startsound and the Shutdownsound to save memory

7. some Parts removed to let the device is more stable

8. Telnet activated (you will love the new busybox)

Usage:

1. Install just like a usual firmware upgrade

2. You must format your HDD with ext3, fat32 is no option anymore because users have many problems with it.
Please look for how to make it correct to http://www.hdd-player.de/phpBB2/index.php?topic=1279.0 (you must be registered)
but works also with every LinuxLiveCD.

3. Log in using telnet: user = root, password = hdd

4. Log in using ftp (Upload works! but not all commands only on ext3, download works also with NTFS): user = root, pass = hdd
Note: The ftpd takes 10-20 seconds to respond! Be patient

5. To get to your Harddisk you need go to /tmp/ide/part1

6. To get the new script working you need to extract the INIT.zip to your internal ext3 HDD or to an ext3 usb HDD

Thanks:

Thx go to the admin from www.hdd-player.de who makes it possible that Novatron includes ext3 support.
Thx goes to Dirk alias (dm) who helps me and compiles some nights.
Thx goes to OK from the Mvix Community who gets the stuff working (ftpd and shttpd)
Thx goes to hifan from the Mvix Community who makes the new busybox working.

I wish you all good luck.

Dear cHarOn,

Can you give us more informations about these new features ?

5. Added an FTP Server so can FTP to your Device using the IP and for login user:root pass:hdd

6. Changed the Startsound and the Shutdownsound to save memory

7. some Parts removed to let the device is more stable

8. Telnet activated (you will love the new busybox)

5. Added an FTP Server so can FTP to your Device using the IP and for login user:root pass:hdd
??? whats not clear on that?! you can FTP to the iamm and fill it up if your internal hdd is ext3

6. Changed the Startsound and the Shutdownsound to save memory
yes it say changed startsound and shutdownsound to save memory because the hole unit is on its limits

7. some Parts removed to let the device is more stable
also optimzing stuff removes unusefull stuff what only is in because novatron didnt know that they dont need it :-)

8. Telnet activated (you will love the new busybox)
You can telnet to the device and can send commands like hdparm to let the hdd sleep or make copy operations............................

I hope now is all clear?

Hi,
It´s possible to run movies with Samba (I run Samba under Linux Ubuntu on a WiFi (54 Mbps) and it works fine (no delays or freeze) up to 1024p (for example movie ¨Elephant Drems.divx¨ with 1920x1080 resolution)

Hi everyone,

I just have an Iamm and a question.
The manual says you can position the subtitles by using the S.title button on the remote.
Then press 1st - 5th and use arrow keys.

Until now I did not succeeded to use the procedure, possible I'm doing something wrong.

Anyone can explain it more clearly?

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day.
