When will Jack become president. It's the only way this show can go off the air.

Wait till you see who his replacement is!

Unfortunately the previews shown last night pretty much gave away the fact that the nuke was going to go off. They blew a great opportunity for a great dramatic effect.

The Curtis killing (or at least shooting) may have crossed my line for pulling for Jack. What the guy did deserved death - he should have tried to talk Curtis down and if that didn't work - oh well.

Do any of you think that we will have any flashbacks this season showing how Jack was tortured when he was in China? I would like to see how he got some of those scars and burns epecially on his right hand.
I hadn't watched 24 until this season because my local FOX channel just started carrying HD programming.

Holy cow! The nuke going off totally surprised me and it wasn't at all like Jericho, this show is well written, well acted and very very good. I'm hooked.

Not sure I get it - isn't that exactly what he did. Or are you suggesting something I'm missing?

Most of the Torture scenes were covered in episode 6x00 the pre season show, that was included with the season 5 DVD box set.

That was about 6-7 months into his capture. after that he never said another word till he was released to Bill & Curtis in episode 6x01

Well that is subject to discussion. I work on RF equipment all day and a few of the units that I work on have a laser trimmed cap on them and if the flux is not removed from them it changes the capacitance. So could that not be a "Flux Capacitor"????

He means that Assad deserved death and that Jack should have tried to talk Curtis down. If Jack couldn't talk Curtis down, and Curtis shot Assad, then, well, that sucks, but Assad deserved death anyway. I think he'd argue that Assad's life wasn't worth shooting Curtis over.

for the haters out there that said this premiere sucked... Take that...

it's tough to argue that when Assad's life, at that point in time, might save millions of American lives.

Kill him after this crisis is over? Sure. Let him die now at the height of the crisis? Can't let that happen.

Jack gave Curtis a chance. He realized Curtis wasn't going to back down. He did what he had to do.

Yeah, the last 10 minutes of the show tonight turned everything around...... I was beginning to think that this was going to be a crappy season, but now it's looking pretty damn good at the moment!

I hate to see them kill off Curtis..... Maybe Jack should have tried to wound him first instead of going immediately for the kill-shot?

Oh well..... looking forward to next week!

Need more Bauer kills....

The way Curtis posiitioned himself left very little Jack could shoot. Other than a head shot, the neck was about the only option. That's the reason why Curtis positioned himself that way. He eliminated any "disabling" shots and only left fatal shots -- which he figured Jack wouldn't do.

I didn't see that one coming. The "unexpected" is what makes this series good. Last year it was Palmer, Michelle and Tony. So far this year it's Curtis. Who's next?

I also didn't see the nuke actually going off. I was actually surprised that it went that far. Five nukes this year is pretty extreme. I don't know how they're going to top that next year.

Next year I bet Jack will have to stop an unscheduled lemming migration before it gets to the pacific.

I'm not getting any HD channels in San Jose, CA tonight. Just when I was tuning in for 24! Ugh. Anyone else having this problem?

Take what? If it wasn't for the last ten minutes, then the show would have sucked.
I thought the 2nd 2 hours were still very good. Not as good as the 1st night of tv but very solid. Kept me interested most of the time.

The last few minutes were very exciting though...got me pumped for the rest of the season

I might be wrong, but I don't think they're married. Not only that, but I don't think the President even knows that his sister is "involved" with the guy.

How did Fahead (sp?) survivie the nuclear blast? Wasn't he in the warehouse at the time? (Based on previews for next week)

Ding ding. She's not wearing a ring.

i agree that curtis dying was more dramatic than the nuke itself, in fact, i've not felt so emotional during this show since teri died. it was that powerful to me. the nuke was pretty nice, but i don't know why because they've done nuclear threats before, but i guess this one was over actual population.

Fayed left the warehouse about 25 minutes before the detonation, right after the package arrived.

I knew Curtis was not long for the world considering he was a guest star, not a regular.

Why do I have a hunch that Tony Almeida never died?

If my guess counts as a spoiler, please delete.

Next year is going to be interesting. See, because of the nuke going off, they are going to have to stop a mutated lizard called Godzilla.

Cool show, fun action, but the advertising and sponsorship is too much.

I am sure you didn't see the DBS Dish on the house as they showed the Mushroom cloud - oh, about 6 times between the show and the previews of next week - lol. No problems with product placement there for Fox and Directv either!!!

Yes, but then they would have had to take the cast out of LA and film on location!!!!

God forbid they can't go home at night or pay extra cost for location shoots!

Sure, let's get him from China to LA in 60 minutes - that is believable as him crossing LA everytime in less than 10 minutes.

Can't wait till next weeks episode.

A nuke went off the other season as well as the President watched from AF1 - this time he watched from the Oval Office. In 24, the President always has to watch the nuke.
