Sony SXRD Bravia Rear-Projection TV

I have a KS60R200A Sony SXRD Bravia Rear-Projection TV and i was wondering if its able to automatically upscale 480p date to higher resolutions?

I have a wii and i was wondering if the TV will automatically upscale its 480p resolution produced through the wii's composite cables.

Your tv will upscale 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i to it's native resolution of 1080p so no problems there. BTW, Bravia is a designation used for Sony's flat panel lcd sets, not the Grand Wega SXRD models.

Your WII will not output 480p over composite video cable, but will thru component cables. Since you used the plural "composite cables" I'm going to assume that you meant to type component cables rather than composite cable. The composite cable is a single yellow color-coded video cable while the component cables consist of 3 separate cables color coded green, red, and blue.

My mistake, Jacko. I didn't realize you were talking about a non-US model. Here in the US the Bravia designation is only given to Sony's flat panel lcd sets and it was wrong of me to assume this was the case in other countries, or that the upconversion capabilities were the same in other countries. I'm pretty sure NZ uses the PAL standard for regular tv, not the 480i NTSC standard used in more backward areas of the world.

Do you by any chance know the difference between the New Zealand Model KS60R200A to the American XRB2?... apart from an extra HDMI port :P

It looks physically identical to the US XBR-2, what with the side speakers. I note that it uses Nicam broadcast stereo, presumably for analog channels, which is a different system from that used in the US (we have MTS). Our HD broadcasts use Dolby Digital-sometimes 5.1 but mostly 2.0 depending on the individual broadcast station, don't know what video system you have for broadcast HD, whether you have ATSC HD broadcast standard or something else.

Hey Guys, I realise this is not directly to do with what you have been talking about but was wondering if you could help me out. I am thinking about getting a KS60R200A but have slightly limited space and was wondering if you can remove the speakers as this would allow me to make it fit. The only reason I ask is because on Sonys website with regards to the 70" model, it gives dimensions with and without speakers but only one set of dimensions for the 60". Any help would be muchly appreciated. Thanks
