I've been reading a little about audio setups for Bitstream. Everyone is saying to set SPDIF to Bitstream and HDMI to Downmixed PCM. Well, when I do this, the A2 LED display says "Multi". However, when I hit Display on the A2 remote, it says, Audio Output: Digital PCM - Audio Decode: Dolby Digital and my receiver is getting 2.0 PCM. Seems right, but everyone is saying the A2's setting are backwards. Well, apparently mine aren't?
When I set SPDIF to Bitstream and HDMI to Auto, my A2's LED display says 2 channel. On screen Display from the A2 says Audio Output: Digital Bitstream - Audio Decode: Dolby D and my receiver is getting 5.1 DD.
I can get it to do what I want (according to my receiver), which is Bitstream 5.1 DD, I'm just wondering why it is backwards from what people are saying?
I am checking this with The Descent in SD. The Descent has a DD EX track. My receiver is set to automatically detect this flag and output "DD+PLIIx" which is exactly what I get when my settings are SPDIF: Bitstream and HDMI: Auto.
(I don't care about HD audio, as for this, I go back to HDMI output and let the A2 internally decode to 5.1 PCM.)
