Excellent work guys.

If anyone has the time, I would love to get the Running Scared cover art. I should be getting the import today and have read it comes in a cardboard box...boo.

Thanks to anyone that can dish up the assist on that.

Two questions...

1) How do you guys even go about constructing these dvd custom arts? What software do you need?

2) How in the world do I print out custom dvd art? Do I need certain software, too? I have tried in the past, and its sometimes too big or something. It just doesn't work on my home printer.

I'd love to know. Thanks.
how do you put these prints on the case to look like the retail cases? I don't want them to look sloppy.

I assume they use Quark and Photoshop.

I had the same problem. Just download the picture, then import it into Microsoft Publisher (part of Office). You can drag the edges without changing the resolution or proportion. Set it so the length is about 1/8 inch from the edges. Make sure your printer is set to landscape, and viola!

I use DVDcoverprint. I think its still available out on the net. It doesnt have the template for hd-dvd covers but you can create one and use it. Its a great program.

Ok guys,

How about some HD DVD cover art for:

Jaws
Aliens
Alien
Star Wars 4-6

When I have some free time I guess I can open up CS2 and try myself as I did some covers years ago....it just takes a lot of time.

THanks again for the ones you have provided!
If i can get some time soon i'll try and churn out a few that folks have requested.

I second that! Don't like the cardboard box at all!

Thanks for considering cover art for Running Scared. Some of the quality is better than the originals IMO. It would be great to get cover art for some of the imports that do not even have cover art for slipcases.

Take care.

I would think anyone who has made some coverart in the past could possibly just modify their old ones? Might not take as long.

Some generic ones (with limited technical details) for popular titles would be nice since many are making their own homemade 2 or 3 disc HD-DVDs.
Anyone doing one for Running Scared? (please!) the case it comes in is terrible

Tried downloading Running Scared and it says it's corrupted. Just fyi.
I downloaded the Underworld 2 image. I printed it off and it looks awesome. I left the original one in place because it is printed on both sides with a nice shot of Kate. That way I can still see her face when I open up the cover.

Wow, some real talent is on display here.

Is The Machinist coming to HD-DVD? When? I love that movie. Christian Bale is incredible!
Here is one I did before the availability of cases. too bad I did not have any promo images as it was too small of a movie. I'm starting to play around with encoding my own movies... It's in the same style as my old love potion #9 and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind DVHS covers where I used screen capture.

first post and all but guys, a custom cover aint just a lousy scan with a different piece of poster artwork thrown on the front. Have a look at the covers at "replacethecase" there are thousands of DVD and a few HD-DVD covers there created by many of the DVDCA (RIP) community, myself included. Theres even templates that you can use in Photoshop so no excuses for blurry scanned text anymore

Just let us know when that site doesn't require a paid membership and an aproval/review process to upload covers. I like simplicity and what bugs me the most about crappy covers is the front. The back I can care less about unless it's super bad or an import. Saves me time too. Good plug though.
Really people still scan the credit text? I had to type everything out, find as many of the company logos in EPS, or sometime reproduce redraw them in EPS. I normally spend more time on the back then the front. But when I dont have decent artwork for the front or the movie has not been relesed on home video I have to watch the movie again and write down timecode to get some decent screenshots.
I scan at over 700 dpi and if the credit text is still blurry I'll retype the whole thing. I try to avoid it when possible because that takes up a lot of time.
