My new setup needs help!

Hello,
I just moved and want to upgrade my setup to HD etc.

Here's my setup and please let me know what you think.

Sony kdl 40s2400 40'' LCD
Onkyo tx-ds626
Bose 301 front speakers
Bose center channel
Bose 201 Rear Speakers
velodyne ct-80 sub

Direct TV HD with HDMI to the LCD

My tv is hanging over the fireplace and thus not giving me much room on the side of the fireplace for the Bose 301s any recommendations on new Front speakers?

Aperion? SVS?

Thanks!

The room is about 220 square feet.

What is your budget for speakers? One thing with changing the front speakers is they will not match in timbre to the other Bose speakers. I am not a big fan of Bose speakers personally, but you can get this entire set for $300 and they are amazingly good for the price:

They are small, extremely inexpensive and will be superior to your Bose setup and matched all around.

Happy Holidays!

Hey, Thanks a lot. That's right in my budget. I love listening to live music dvds so based on the reviews it looks like these are a safe bet.

I agree with the above poster who mentioned that Bose is not very good. Now I must tell you that I have purchased three pairs of Bose 301's in the 70's and 80's, and they do a respectable job as long as they are not pushed too hard. The Bose center channel speakers are terrible, in my opinion. My dad has one and it is hard to make out voices and it has no "oomph" to it. Bose always tried to make tiny speakers do things that they can't, and that problem is evident in their center channel speakers. As you know, movies in Dolby Digital or DTS can have some extremely loud scenes with explosions, gunfire, etc. You need speakers that are up to this challenge. I personally like Definitive Technology, and have the BP2002 powered towers, along with the CLR2002 center and BP2x surrounds and a PF15tl sub. The system easily handles whatever I throw at it, but it cost a few grand total. Definitive makes some decent smaller speakers as well. Maybe if there is a dealer near you, you might want to take a listen and judge for yourself.
