Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire UK version*PIX* - Page 4

Here is something else that might help Warner sell on both formats and still give the upperhand to HD-DVD (in addition to the True HD tracks.)

AFAIK, Warner has not yet released any 'Super-special-fully-decked-out-kitchen-sink-included-multi-disc' edition of the HP series similar to what they have already done with 'The Matrix' trilogy.

Here's the thought:

Warner whips up a super special set of the Potter series. They go all out... including new transfers, all sorts of bonus materials, extra scenes, features, the works, etc.

They then release them to DVD, HD-DVD, and BlueRay. No problem there as both HD camps get the release. The catch is that the HD-DVD and DVD versions are one and the same. Combo discs, with a price no higher than it would be if it were DVD only.

I think Warner could get away with doing 1 combined DVD/HD-DVD SKU in that case, as they could probably press enough combos to keep up with the smaller demand for such a box set.

I wonder if they weren't mulling the idea of something similar with the recent 'Superman' box, because that would have been another seemingly perfect application for this strategy.

It seems to me that it would be a good strategy for getting HD-DVD into more DVD collections while also satisfying the Blu people.

19 kids ages 2 to 18 at home before Xmas Eve watched this movie with IME enabled using my PJ and 92" screen and they were smiles all around

Money well spent on this title.

Because of this I will be bringing 3 of my uncles to BB to purchase the HD-A2. Hopefully they are in stock somewhere. I will make sure they won't get rayed

I watched most of the special features yesterday and was particularly impressed with the PQ on the interview with the three main cast members, especially shots of the interviewer. The sharpness of the detail of the fabric on his chair was outstanding.

If I'm not mistaken, that was shot on HD, most of the extras on HD DVDs are recycled from previous releases.

I finally watched my copy I got from xploited last night and it is a great looking disc. I was put off by the FBI warning, this is a disc from England with an FBI warning? Just make more sense that the HD-DVD's were done for the U.S. but someone paid them off to hold off until a BLU-RAY release could happen at the same time as the HD-DVD release in the states.

Huge missed opportunity for HD-DVD a pre Xmas release of this would have sold through the roof.

Nah it would made a bigger splash if they release them the same week at the 5th start at Cinema in a Boxset or separated. I for myself want all of them in 1 shot..

At this point HD-DVD needs as much help as it can get to battle BLU-RAY, missing out on a title that is finished like Harry Potter is a huge mistake, This title is done obviously as we have imported it, nothing else needs to be done to it as it's already fully in english, the PQ and AQ are top notch.

There is no benefit from holding this title hostage from U.S shores especially during the X-MAS season.
I received mine today and watched alittle and the PQ and AQ are way better than the SD DVD.

Those pics look like crap, but thanks anyway. I should have ordered this from Tony because I'm still waiting for mine and it shipped out on the 13th via air mail.

This is nothing new. Most of my latin American DVD's ( which I usually do not like since they are Region 4 ) have the FBI logo also.

This is making me want a new TV, got a 32inch LCD last fall and am regretting it

US release is likely June or July of next year to coincide with the new movie.

"US release is likely June or July of next year to coincide with the new movie."

Bad decision, HD-DVD needs exclusive major hits now, the disc is done why not release it before X-MAS?

Update: I spoke too soon. I just got it in the mail. I'm having dinner with my family tonight so I don't know if I'll have time to watch it though.

This is a great looking title with some scenes that are right up there with the best HD DVDs. Highly recommended. And yes, a bummer that it is delayed for a while in US...

Well, according to the USPS website, my movie was delivered at 8:45 AM on Sunday, Dec. 24th. Since USPS doesn't run on Sunday, and there was no movie in my mailbox, I'm not exactly sure how that works. Maybe it will arrive today.

amirn any insight to why it was delayed as the disc is about as good as it gets? Since it's done what was the reason? Hope they know they really missed out not having it out before X-mas.
