My new westinghouse 47 developed this pink vertical line near the center of the screen.. It wont go away if I do a factory reset, or unplug the TV for awhile... Is there anything I can do? Should I contact westinghouse for a repair? Any help is appreciated

I would get Avia Home Theater Set-up DVD (it has easier navigation and explanations for newcomers) or Video Essentials dvd and try tuning your picture.

Cnet TV Tuning/Adjustment
That article is good and shows some basic stuff you can do without a dvd. Also, some THX dvds have a chapter with some basic test patterns.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a tuning issue. Changing settings doesn't effect the presence of this thick vertical line that appears over everything.

It looks like an entire column of pixels died all at once. Does that make sense? Surely that won't go away with messing with the settings. It is the same thickness regardless of which inputs I use.

I will be calling westinghouse to try and get a repair under warranty... Is that the best approach?

You have a dead red column. There is no (easy) repair. If it is under warranty, get yourself a new set. Otherwise, you are going to have to live with it.
