Anyone know how to convert Quicktime movies to MP4?

just get a mp4 transcoder

Quicktime pro can export it to many different formats including mp4...but when I do it, the PS3 won't play it oddly. I've done it for the PSP and phones and such.

I was wondering if it was even possible. The manual says MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 are the only MPEG video codecs supported. The PlayStation Store has AVC trailers but the PS3 can't play AVC files? Weird...

OK, I figured it out...when I encode using MPEG4 or improved MPEG4 on Quicktime, it won't play but when using H264 it plays perfectly. Problem solved. Stupid oversight on my part. Encode it to an mp4 file with quicktime using H264 and it works just fine.

PS3 Video 9 would work too, but I just use QuickTime Pro.

I thought it would be that. But that problem i'm having now is that it throws out errors everytime I try to convert the .MOV to H264. By the way, what are your other settings set at ??? Framerate, bitrate, bandwidth etc..

Well I have found my problem of it crashing. I forgot that a while back i had virtual paging disabled on Windows. LOL. This process is CPU and memory intensive. It uses 100% of my Athlon XP64 3200 processor, chews up my 1 GB of memory and probably almost another 500MB - 1GB of Virtual memory. So far Using the Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer 1080p Trailer, Try setting it to 1920 x 1080 with a bandwidth of about 10000 KB/sec and Video settings of Single pass, and make it letterbox format, it took almost 2 hours on my comp and then tried it on my PS3 and it looks ok. Slight pixelation. I'm going to try the same settings with Multiple pass and higher bandwidth leaving the framerate alone and see what happens. My goal is obviously to make it look as good as the original .mov file.

If anyone has had near perfect results, i'd like to hear from them.
