Buy it from buy.com and another movie, then use the $20 off using Google Checkout, you'll end up paying less than $40 for that movie....

buy.com doesn't take google checkout on preorders. also, their shipping is glacially slow, so don't expect to see it before the new year.

They do speed thing up between Turkey day and Xmas.

Thats an INSANE price. Why the heck is it $40 even as a combo? I'm heavilly disappointed by this. Even from amazon its $27. Does anyone know of a cheaper price?
I want to get this one but I will not drop that much coin on it... Those damn combos!
I ordered 3 movies from Buy.com 2 weeks ago. 1 movie went out 4 days later and I've been emailing them and google about the last two movies. Hey, they both ship out tomorrow (because of all my nasty emails) so beware of buy.com.

Amazon has better prices, buy.com is inflating their prices to cover the google checkout.

As a side note, the (original overseas) DVD release for this movie was in 1.85:1. I wonder if the HD DVD version will be in this aspect ratio as well?

I am VERY surprised to hear that it is for sale in Wisconsin, considering the fact that it isn't supposed to be out until next Tuesday...

I just followed the Buy.com link, and it STILL showed it as being a preorder. I noticed something about the box art that bothered me, however. It stated that it was an "unrated" version. I sure hope that this doesn't mean that my 11 year old son can't watch it. He has already watched the "foreign" (original) version of the movie. If it is DIFFERENT than that version, then I guess that I will have to screen it first before he can watch it...

yay, I got it for $27.95 from Amazon, w/ 2day shipping and the discount, it comes to just under $30, expected to be here on the 20th or 21st

Hey, anyone know if it includes the original Mandarin soundtrack, or do they only offer the dubbed version?
Both versions should include the English dub and the original Mandarin with English subtitles.

I'm pretty sure the "Unrated" version is just the 104 minute cut that was originally shown in Hong Kong, where the PG-13 version was trimmed by about a minute to secure the rating (so far no one's done a comparison, so I don't know what was cut for sure). The Thai DVD has an additional fight scene, but so far that's the only longer version to be released that I'm aware of.

I will definitely look for a bargain... Amazon...

So...anyone who has seen this care to comment if this is a great/good/decent/poor film? I only bought it b/c i heard it was Li's last "Wushu" epic - though I didn't really like his "Once Upon a Time" films. I really enjoyed the Enforcer, Fist of Legend, and Kiss of the Dragon. Unleashed was ok, but it's got spectacular video quality, one of the best for HD-DVD

the movie itself is good, but to me it felt rushed, the original was 140 minutes about, and it was trimmed to 104 minutes, who knows why they took out all that but i guess thats why to me the movie felt rushed for an ending. owell.

Edit: just found out that the Japanese version of this film on dvd will be called Spirit, which will be uncut and will include the 40 minutes that was cut. So i guess im gonna have to import it

Hmmm...I'd rather go with the HD version despite it being cut - I don't usually go for extended cuts unless its deemed as a director's cut. Thanks

It's kind of slow moving and the martial arts is very constrained, realistic action. It's more of an arthouse project (well more of an attempt at one) than anything else.
I thought that it was very entertaining for the most part, but the way the movie starts leaves you wondering "how on earth are they going to make an ENTIRE film out of this?" as it kind of throws you into the ending of the movie at the very start. Not unlike what they did with MI 3. But then it flashbacks and shows you some "history".
The main thing that this movie has going for it is the fight sequences. They are more "realistic" than a lot of other similar films, but they still did a good bit of "wire work" to get the effects. If you like hand-to-hand combat action, then you really SHOULD check this one out...

Perhaps the uncut version will be released in Japan? I think I will hold off on buying this release and just be patient and wait to find out what happens.

And they wonder why people are predicting it is going to stay as a niche product....
