This calendar contains all firm titles that are going to be released for the American market.

There are many other lists, but they are arranged alphabetically, or by format and/or studios. Here I intend to make a list by release date, so that anyone can use it to see what is available at any given moment. I'll update it as more information is disclosed.

To qualify, a title must have been announced by the studio (with price and availability date), or be available for preorder (not availability notification or obvious placeholder) at two different North American sites.

This thread discusses the sales information given by Nielsen VideoScan and published by Home Media Magazine and also by PC Magazine

In 2007, Home Media Magazine has begun publishing Blu-ray vs HD DVD sales information. To access the magazine, scroll down the page. On the left you'll see a box entitled "This Week's Digital Edition", and underneath the text "Read It Now! Click Here". Click that.

The information consists of relative percentages between BD and HD DVD, both year-to-date and "since inception", as well as the weekly top 5 for BD and HD DVD, and their relative sales within each format.

Week ending February 4, 2007



YTD: BD 100.00 HD DVD 48.38
SI: BD 92.56 HD DVD 100.00

What does that mean?
YTD (year-to-date): in the period from Jan 1, 2007, to the date shown above, for every 48.38 HD DVD units sold there were 100 BD units sold.
SI (since inception): since the inception of both formats (April 2006 to the date shown above), for every 82.56 BD units sold there were 100 HD DVD units sold.

Combining this with the weekly figures for January from a recent article posted on PC Magazine, BD/HD DVD percentages are:

good stuff for bluray alot of titles for them not on hd-dvd . Hopefully toshiba and the hd-dvd group steps it up 2007 so far isn't a hot year for hd-dvd. My 1-2 titles a week on hd-dvd might slow up soon

gljvd and Petra, note that this calendar was not created to promote a format or to fuel any kind of controversy; rather, to include as much substantial information on hidef titles as possible, especially information on audio and video codecs used, and disc size.

The original post was becoming too large and unwieldy. However, I would ask the mods not to lock it because I still have to fill in a lot of blanks.

After checking back on the sources (especially themanroom), I see it hasn't been actually confirmed by the studio. That's why I hadn't included it (or Ladder 49 and Reign of Fire, for that matter). We'll know soon enough.

It's frustrating how HD-DVD studios are notorious for announcing titles so close to when they release them. I'm hoping this will change in the new year, but looking at those charts, it doesn't seem to be.

Only using one website for PQ rating is not very helpful, due to the sometimes wide-ranging differences in rating for the same title from different sites.

I have been averaging between a couple sites during this year but the logistics proved impossible. It took ages for them both to post a review. It won't work.

I respect highdefdigest's reviews a lot. Additionally, their reviews usually come soon after release date.

Averaging multiple sites takes a lot of time, but otherwise the number is misleading, and it might be best to not list it at all. Some examples:

Grubert: I know the colour coding is good for an easy look. But a few times I have used your lists to compare titles on BD vs HD DVD. Do you think you could add a column at the end B/H it would make such a task much easier.
