MY TH-42PH9UK arrived Cracked!!!

There's just nothing good to say about it. I saved for 3 years and whamo "No Plasma for you"

The box was fine, no corners or sides crushed. But with I opened it I noticed all four sytrofoam pieces had taken a hit and were cracked.

The front glass and bezel were fine. The interior glass had 1 deep crack and 2 hairline cracks in the lower left corner. There were also several glass chips between the glass as well.

When I powered it up just to see if it would produce an image there was a loud hum and no picture, only sparkles of light behind the glass.

Luckily VA seems to be on the ball and we'll try it again in 7-10 days.

Aw man that's a letdown. It sounds like the whole plasma box was dropped or took a big bounce on the back of a truck. Although this is disappointing, and the trucking company seems to be dropping the ball, the good thing is that Visual Apex is better at helping you get a replacement quickly and will go out of the way take care of you.

Once you get the new display up and running and see the image on it's silky smooth screen, you'll forget about the previous two weeks worth of anxiety

I must say that I was surprised at how our 50PH9UK was delivered last week. It was in perfect condition, but it was not packed nearly as securely as the 42" Panny that we bought 3½ years ago.

The 42" was double boxed with an oversized outer carton and spacers between the outer and inner cartons. This was all strapped to a small pallet and there was a "shock watch" device on the outside that was supposed to turn red if the thing had been handled too roughly. The 50" came double boxed, but the outer carton fit snuggly over the inner plasma box, and there was no pallet or shock sensor.

That is exactly how my 42" arrived today..... from what I had read previously I was actually expecting a pallet and the bouble boxing with space between inner and outer boxes.

No, I was at work. I don't think they stick around for that anyway

Same shipper...

VA thinks it was damaged from the factory. panasonic is coming to pick it up.

Now the replacement panel may have been lost by the shipper

Looks like they found it...

It may have not left VA when they said it did.

Shipper has the info now

I did finally get the screen on the 23rd.

It works perfect. I dialed it in with Avia and was impressed. You definitely get the WOW factor.

You can see how some SD DVD's are mastered well and other are worse than VHS.
