AVR-2307CI w/HR20

Thread Starter
I have the D* HR 20 and the Denon AVR-2307CI connected via HDMI, I am using the HDMI out connected to my Sharp Sharp LC-45Dxxx. When I first power on all the componets I get no video on the screen, I hear the sound but no video. I can finally get video if I press the input mode/return button on the remote to the 2307.

My question is how do I avoid having to press the input button on the remote in order to display the video each time I turn it on? Should it not remember my settings? I am putting the 2307 into "stand-by" there is still power going to it as the power LED is red.

Any advice is appreciated.

I have the same problem with the 8300HD box from TW with the latest firmware. I've switched boxes (both had latest firmware) and the problem persists. If I wait long enough 2-4 mins the Denon starts clicking and after another minute or so the video comes up. I had the box, the receiver and the tv hooked up through HDMI originally. I've now gone with component from the box to the receiver and there is still a 2-3 minute delay before the video comes up. I'm beginning to think that there's a problem between the Tv and the receiver.

I am no expert but it could be a handshake problem. Have you tried turning the TV on 1st and then the Denon say in 5-10 seconds. I have read of handshake problems with HDMI and other setups and some guys have suggested you try this solution.

I called Denon and got hold of an apparently pretty well informed tech. He said that a few 2307ci's had a "trigger issue" that would cause them to act like what I described. He said that the unit needs to be shipped back to them and they have a fix that would take a just a few seconds (firmware) but that it was something I could not do myself. So B33R I recommend you call them - they said they would arrange shipping and it would cost you nothing. I took my unit and back to Tweeters, explained the problem and gave the techs contact info and they exchanged it for another model. I upgraded to a 2807 and yes I did give them some more money but they gave me a good deal.

Ron - I've been fighting this issue for the last 6 weeks and I've tried changing the turn-on sequence, different HDMI cables, switching out cable boxes, hard reboots, and many different configuratiions on all units. I really think and hope that the tech was right, at least, he acted like he was familiar with the problem.
