Thanks - the entrance design is all credits to Dennis Erskine; I actually tried to go another route but Dennis convinced me the entrance hallway was needed to address acoustic challenges

It's been a while since I've updated this thread. So a few recent updates...

Decided to go with different approach for the subs, so I built two custom subs which would fit behind the screen, so needed to be shallow enclosures (less than 15" depth). Here is what they came out like:

The subs are powered by a 4000W sub amplifier, with bass management handled by the Velodyne SMS-1 unit:

The approach is to eventually end up with 4 subs in the room in a layout such as:

Finally, some shots of the construction of the subs - 15" Stereo Intergrity HT150-D2 in a custom 3.2 cu ft enclosure

Thanks Big - I almost called you to see about borrowing some clamps - as I ran out during the construction.. ended up just stacking some heavy books on top of the box eek.gif

I spy the Jasper Jig on your router. That and the table saw means you can now build more speakers. I can't imagine though that you are going to pull the great sounding Triads out of your theater. I didn't know that bass was lacking in your space didn't you have something like four subs? two up front and two in the side columns.

Ahh.. good eye. Yes I bought a Jasper hole cutting Jig. The best investment ever, worth every penny. Cutting those large wholes in MDF was the funnest part of the project!

My large 18" Velodyne sub has been acting up the last couple of years. Has now been factory repaired twice. So your memory is correct, I now have 6 subs in the HT. Just wanted to experiment with a different bass approach for the room. I can now claim I'm able to knock books off the shelf from the room above biggrin.gif

And I'm definitely NOT thinking of replacing the Platinum Triads - I love those speakers! Although after seeing the new Triad Cinema Reference speaker, it might be time for an upgrade eek.gif
