The same cable you use for the Hsu will work for the JL.

Blue Jeans Cable makes an -excellent- cable HDMI, Speaker or RCA.

I have bought stuff from ebay, but not this much without warranty. Just curious..

I have the itch to upgrade. Currently using a HSU HO..

Hey tractng, I don't know if you've picked up the JL already, but that is a fantastic price. I too went from a HSU HO to the F112 and have not regretted it one bit. I love the size and build quality of the F112. The sound quality is top notch. It has a bit less output than the HO around the HO's port tuning frequency but the F112 has more clean output in the mid to upper bass.

Anxiously awaiting my 2 F112's. Cannot wait to be blown away.

Will report back...

I missed that deal and bought the f113. Very musical sub and the size is great.

Why is this thread dead since 2009? Surely the F112 deserves better!

I just got my F112 about a week ago and have only had 2 or 3 hours of play time so far, and so far it sounds great. I upgraded from a Sunfire TS-EQ12, which also sounded great, but what I notice about the JL is that it is much less boomy in my room and blends with my in wall speakers much better. The sub doesn't stick out unnaturally like the Sunfire did at times.

The main things that doesn't seem right about my calibration with the JL right now is how high I have the subwoofer level set on my Yamaha RX-V765 receiver. I have the level control set to reference so the level is determined by my receiver and not by the level control on the subwoofer. With my Sunfire I had the level set down about 4db from my other speakers. With the JL I have the level set about 5 or 6db higher than my other speakers. My room is small (1500 cubic ft.) so I feel like given the power of the JL the level shouldn't need to be so high. Right now I have the ELF trim at 0, crossover at 80, and have dialed in the phase and polarity settings to where they sound best.

I am curious as to what other F112 others have to say about their setup- room size, level setting, elf trim, etc.

That's because they're all hangin' out at the F113 thread(even us F112 guys).

So far I am loving it. ARO was a little tricky as I had to jack the level up pretty high and also had to put the microphone a lot closer than my sitting area.
I may get a second one for my HT/Family room system.

Just auditioned a F112 and a F110. The latter held up pretty good. Any comparisons?

Wow; is this like the official F112 thread? If so...it's fallen a bit dormant, yes wink.gif

Well...if anyone is still listening; I was looking for some advice on selling mine. Honestly, I'm not trying to spam; after all...I assume you already have your F112. But I am having the damnedest time moving mine.

The ad is below; in my signature. See anything amiss? Am I priced too high; is the fact that I point toward the verbiage I had to write at Audiogon...and didn't want to duplicate here...the issue? Or have they just falen out of favor with HT enthusiasts? (everyone is high on ID these days)

I am completely surprised and confused. confused.gif Any advice, is appreciated (oh, and if you do need a matching second one...you know how to reach me tongue.gif). TIA

Possibly, you might want to reconsider your asking price. smile.gif

Thanks CJ. Not to sound dense...but do you think it is over-priced?

I mean sure...if you want to dump gear quick; you can always list for less than what it should sell for. But I have to tell ya; I Google'd F112s that were listed at Audiogon recently...and $2100 seemed to be the going rate. On top of that...another 9/10 was up for auction, while mine was also listed; and it ended at $2080.

In my mind...nothing gives you stark, here-is-what-someone-will-pay, market-value; like an auction. So I ask again...it's a little over-priced, for those in the know?

When I sold my F112's a few years ago, I sold them for about 20% less than you are asking. In the meantime, a number of high quality, high value sealed subs have hit the market that impact the resale value of used F112's. I'm just sayin... if you really want to sell them, price them to sell. If you want to get the highest price possible, be prepared to take some time to sell them.

Fair enough; and thanks for the feedback.

That goes to that whole falling-out-of-favor thing I talked about. I suspect that, more than anything; is holding interested parties back.

I know when I bought these...the rap on JL Audio was, wildly expensive; but worth it. Well...thanks again. This one is like new; so I guess I'll just wait for someone willing to pay the "premium", for one in great shape and with very few hours.

Consider shortening the ad. Highlight (very succinctly) the mint condition (or however you feel comfortable describing it), the brilliance with moves and music, the elegant size and construction, and the sophisticated driver and amplifier. Dispense with the notion of storage and so forth. This is a great piece, and should sell itself (at exactly what price is not so clear). Long ads tend to suggest issues with a unit, so keep it to a short paragraph or two. I bought a like unit over a new SVS and others (for somewhat less money than you are asking, but would have come close to that level if necessary) due to its speed, appearance (including size) and the quality of materials. Others will, too.

It is extremely difficult to compare subs due to room dynamics, weight, shipping and so forth, so the intrinsic qualities of a unit like this can stand out versus the otherwise terrific, but more mainstream (ID distribution notwithstanding) SVS and similar products, as well as huge but effective units like a Submersive or JTR.

You may also wish to use an auction technique, which seems to be netting owners a good price. The energy and dynamics of a bidding process might secure the same price that, if displayed up front, can chill interest.

Both the f112 and Kkdxd120 received great reviews. Which is better? Anyone?

Yeah; I always consider that. As you can see from my feedback...I do OK on Audiogon. The long ads; some find them informative, and an actual selling point. But I always worry...they might go on a bit. I'm passionate about the hobby, I just speak from the heart; and the words come easy for me. With some kit, it works; but maybe with this sub...less is more.

I think I'll tweak it; and maybe lower the price while I'm at it. I assume haggling is a part of Audiogon; so I build in a little "wiggle room". But I'd take $2k net, so maybe I should just ask for that. If the ad runs out, maybe I'll list as an auction next time. I get the positive...and it can be exciting; but risky too.

Thanks again for the sincere feedback guys; and for not skewering me over the advice.

I think thats a fair price and hopefully you got your asking price. Lets not forget the Fathoms have gone up several times since their release and should command a higher resale now given theres no difference between the initial ones and the ones sold today.

Nice choice -- they are great units.

Still enjoying mine. Makes my inexpensive mains / surrounds better than they really are.
