That's not what I'm saying. A LCD with a good internal processor is going to look better with SD than a plasma with a bad internal processor.
Look around the forums a bit. You will find that pioneer plasmas are very highly regarded with SD. I believe the NECs with KeyDigital cards also are highly regarded.
I will say that my 5070 picture often draws "wow thats what HD looks like" from visitors when it is displaying SD. Of course, that's from about 14 feet away. I've also had family members tell me that "my HD" looks better than their HD when I'm displaying SD. They're usually even more amazed when I put it on a HD feed.
note: I've heard some chatter that some of the LCD 1080p displays are skimping on internal processing. The theory being that a 1080i display only needs to be de-interlaced so they don't need top of the line scalers. Of course, for any signal other than 1080i (including 480i SD), they need scaling. So everything else suffers.
I don't have any inside infromation to know if this is true or not. But I wouldn't be shocked if it wer.
