I've been lucky enough to have bought several types of display in the last couple years. I built a big
house which needed a lot of TVs.
My most recent purchase was a 50" plasma and hands down it is the best overall image of them all. It is as close to CRT as it gets, IMO. Smooth image, good blacks and excellent colors, all without the aberrations of my digital displays. No, it doesn't quite have the punch
of my JVC 61" Pro DILA, but it's a lot more natural looking and to me, easier on the eyes.
Off angle is huge to me, and neither the JVC or the LCDs I own can match the plasma.
Burn in. Yeah, it's there sometimes. Baseball is the worst. The constant image on the top of the screen stays very faintly in the image after a scene change, but goes away after a few minutes. Not a big deal to me.
I really never thought I'd be owning a plasma, this being the 'digital' era and all, but I gotta say, I'm quite impressed.
