No wonder I missed it.

Craig, did you miss my questions about the HSU, you never responded to them. If you would like me to repost it I will, it was posted a few days ago.

I must have missed it ...

No problem Craig, I look forward to reading your results.

The PB12-NSD is scheduled here for Tuesday, the 26th delivery ... and the Hsu subs the following week. I have learned one thing about all this: Don't tell the wife ... she'll figure it out when they arrive.

Now ... Will Ed Mullen have sent a T-Shirt along with the PB12 ? He IS in customer service ...

Wow,

Thanks to all for this excellent thread and review, especially to Craig! I have been agonizing over the decision between the SVS PB12 Plus/2 and the Hsu VTF-3 HO + Turbo. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on the SVS until I read this analysis. Now I'm leaning towards the Hsu.

Happy New Year!

The VTF-3 HO with Turbocharger seems like a great deal, just wish they made it with a resowood finish or cherry.
Are you guys gonna try some aperions too? I ended buying their 10" inch model and will probably end up running two of them and with them like some other internet directs you can try the subs out for a month for free so might as well include them as well.

Craig -

By chance you think you will test/compare any of the models I mentioned above? I would love to see a comparison. Thanks and keep up the great work

craigsub,

Any ETA on the Submersive ?

Really waiting to read your review on how it stacks up to the Fathom.

BTW, check this out... nice DIY project

http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthr...t=23365&page=3

Also when will you get your DIY subs done ?

Regards,
Jose
Guys .... As of now, the BMF, SUBmersive, and MFW-15 are the only remaining subs to be added to the mix as definites. The DIY sub is still in the works - I have been pretty busy with some other business projects, so time has been short.

There are some possibilites of additional subs being added to the mix, too. I did try an Aperion S-12 in 2004 - it was a decent sub, pretty close to the same extension as the Onix X-sub, but with more output from the 12 inch driver.

Any chance of getting the Aerial SW-12 added to the test mix?

Thanks - also interested to see how the Submersive fairs in the testing. Seems like an amazing speaker as well.
Craig, I have an Orb Audio setup. I use their Super 8 sub. It sounds really good to me, but I was thinking of upgrading to a HSU VTF3 MK3. Have you ever heard or tested the Orb Audio Super 8. Trying to get an idea of how good it is compared to other subs, as well as how much more performance I'll get out of the HSU upgrade. Tested Super 8 numbers I've seen have been low of 25hz (28hz at -4dB) and has a peak SPL of 111dB (and a max long-term SPL of 107dB. How good is this compared to others you've tested. Thanks

I have never heard the Super 8 - but it seems to be a very nice $400 subwoofer. The Hsu will be more powerful, and will extend deeper - do you think you are missing some aspect of performance with your current set up ?
Craig,

Did the Hsu VTF3 MK3 arrive yet? I will most likely order one within a few days, so I'm hoping to hear your thoughts on it before I buy.

Thanks,
Guy
Guy - Both the VTF-2 and VTF-3 Mark III's are scheduled to be here tomorrow, the 8th.
I feel like I'm missing some low end punch. Best way I can describe it. Also I get some "baffling/port noise" when i crank the system. I read a few reviews claiming it was on of the best subs under $1000, maybe you wanna test it. Also, anyone else familiar with the super 8?

What is the difference between the Maestro and Maestro "XL"?
Cykro1 - Isn't the Super 8 a sealed subwoofer ? You are likely hearing noises from the driver as it goes into over excursion. I will drop them a line about testing one out.

Brian - The "XL" is the update on the Maestro ... it has a new "Ice Technology" Amplifier, and the cabinets are now made by Mark Schifter's SAC plant.
Nope, it is ported, I just checked again. It's not bottoming out, but there is something going on when it plays loud and low. maybe it's over excursion as you stated.

The MSRP price of the F112 is $2600 in satin. Add $100 to each one for gloss.
