HLP5058W "Blotch Marks" help

Hi, hope I posted this question in the right section, if not im sorry please delete it.

Anyways. I was wondering if anyone might have any idea on how to fix this problem Im having.

On my TV (HLP5058W 50 DLP) on the left and right side of the screen im getting blotch marks.
(Looks almost like oil off someone's fingers that goes from the top to the bottom) it's very visible when there is something white/grayish on the screen however it's not in the picture itself it seems to be in-between the screen and the non removable screen protector. When I put any pressure on the screen you can make it go away and it will stay away until for a while.

Has anyone seen this before or know of a way to fix this?

I took some pictures of the marks (sorry about the quality)

I have never used anything but a damp soft cloth to clean the screen (Water only)

It's a screen defect that Samsung repaired by replacing the "blotched" screens on HLN and HLP models. I'm not sure what their reaction will be to a set that's out of warranty.

It didn't effect all sets, because all the screens Samsung used didn't come from the same sub-contractor.

If Samsung does help you it will probably be because you went high enough in their management chain to get to someone with enough authority to make an exception.

Replacing the screen is the only solution that I know about.

On some sets the blotches would go away after the set had warmed up for thirty to sixty minutes. Others had luck with rubbing the screen gently with a lint free (microfiber) cloth (vertically over the "blotches") to remove them for a given TV session.

As I recall the blotches are caused by condensation which causes a slight separation between screen layers. It effected a large number of HLN and HLP sets.

Thank you for the response.

ill try calling Samsung and see how they want to get it fixed (My warranty ended about half a year ago)
if it ends up being too much ill just leave it as is until I can afford a new TV

Yea thats how I remove it now but its annoying having to do it every time I start up the tv

You'll have to do a cost benefits analysis if Samsung doesn't come through with an after warranty exemption. Good luck.

Stay nice, go as high up as possible, and keep reminding Samsung that it's a manufacturing defect that they fixed for a lot of other people.

I have very similar blotches on my 4 year old panasonic PT-45LC12. Any ideas what it could be since it's not the samsung defect?
