Anyone have Heart: Alive in Seattle?

How's the PQ and AQ? I much enjoyed this concert on HD-NET, and have the hd-dvd on my x-mas list.

I have the disc, but have not watched it yet. Do a search as there are some favorable posts about it.

I purchased it today and went to play it in my add-on 360 drive and it would lock up at the menu screen. Not sure if it is the disc or the drive. Has anyone else tried this disk in the add-on? thank's for your replys.

Plays fine on the XA1. It's playing right now.
Looks and sounds good from a technical standpoint.
Content: I guess I forgot Heart was a 1 album wonder. Can't imagine playing this a 2nd time. Once should do it.

You must not be a big music fan because Heart was anything but a 1 album wonder. They had chart-topping success all through the 70's and 80's and to a lesser extent the 90's. The HD DVD version of Heart: Alive In Seattle is every bit as good as the recent Eagles: Farewell I and Cream Royal Albert Hall discs. The images are crisp giving you the feeling of watching it "live" and it sports a terrific Dolby Digital TrueHD track that really compliments their incredible vocal talents and the band's musicianship. I have already watched it twice. The only minus here is that the static menu system is like an old school standard DVD. There is no on-screen navigation during the performances.

Below is an abridged discography:

Albums:

Dreamboat Annie
Little Queen
Magazine
Dog and Butterfly
Bebe Le Strange
Heart
Bad Animals

Singles:

1976 "Crazy on You"
1976 "Magic Man"
1976 "Dreamboat Annie"
1977 "Barracuda"
1977 "Little Queen"
1977 "Kick it Out"
1978 "Heartless"
1978 "Straight On"
1979 "Dog and Butterfly"
1980 "Even it Up"
1980 "Bebe Le Strange"
1980 "Tell it Like it Is"
1985 "What About Love"
1985 "Never"
1986 "These Dreams"
1986 "Nothin' at All"
1986 "If Looks Could Kill"
1987 "Alone"
1987 "Who Will You Run To"
1987 "There's the Girl"
1988 "I Want You So Bad"
1990 "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You"
1990 "I Didn't Want to Need You"
1990 "Stranded"
1991 "Secret"
1994 "Will You Be There (In the Morning)"
1994 "The Woman In Me"

I'll have to throw in in the A2 and watch it this weekend. The number of unopened HD DVD titles I have is really starting to balloon. I really need to stop ordering all these titles. And rent more of them instead of buying them.

Same here.. I found myself with more and more unopened HD-DVDs, and have basically stopped buying them for the time being.. unless a movie I have really heen waiting for comes out, I'm going to just wait until I at least watch the movies I've already bought.

I'm no expert on Heart, but I definitely know that they had a whole string of singles from the mid-70s to the late-80s. I assume those were from multiple albums.

I have tried a couple of sites that claim they have it in stock only to find out that they did not. Where can I get Heart Hd Dvd

It looks and sounds terrific!

has anyone seen any reviews of the HD Heart DVD
post #13 of 44
I haven't seen any reviews but I watched it last night and I can report that
it does indeed look and sound fantastic.

Just as good as the Eagles disc.....with no glitches on my A1 with 2.0.

Static menu sucks though....it's so much better to jump around to different songs without leaving the concert.

Anyone know if the Chicago/EW&F disc has static menus?

Watched it last night on my XA1. Played perfectly with 2.0 firmware in True HD 5.0. Looked fantastic and sounded even better!! ANY Heart fans here should own this. It's that good. Even the new songs they played were really good. The highlights were(in no particular order): Battle of Evermore, Alone, These Dreams, Mona Lisa & Mad Hatters, Dog and Butterfly, Black Dog and Nancy Wilson! She's aged like fine wine! HAWT! And Ann Wilson's voice is as good as ever. Paid $15.70 shipped from Amazon Prime. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. One other thing, even though is says 5.0 Audio, my SVS Sub was active. Is it because of my Bass Management in my Denon receiver? Could someone confirm that?

If you have any of your speakers set to "small" in the Denon, you have engaged a crossover and any frequencies below the selected crossover point will be routed to the subwoofer output.

The short answer is probably, "yes".

Thank you Robert. Indeed I do have all spkrs. set to small
with the x/o at 80 hz.

Is there a list of all the songs on the disc somewhere?

Edit: never mind. It's on their website.

I thought this title was awesome. I think it's the loudest that I've ever played a hddvd. With TrueHD it's almost like there is more room when the Wilson's hit those high notes that they do so well. It was well worth waiting for. Now for lots more music titles.

Checked this out today.Looks and sounds great. One problem though

Great Disc! They can still rock! PQ is awesome. I'm using Toslink and I like the DD+ (decoded by my Yamaha as DD) better than the trans-coded DTS from TrueHD. Both tracks sound much better than what I'm used to though. I watched about half of the concert so far. Will watch the rest over the next day or so.

Great buy. PQ/AQ is awesome.

I've received Chicago/EW&F in the same package. Same menus. There is some japanese after the FBI warning on both discs. (??)

I Dont like Chicago/EW&F as much. One must like the brass section a lot to play this one loud.

Haven't checked out the HD version yet (I have it, but have too many titles still shrinkwrapped).

However, I will say that I own the SD version and was blown away by the concert. I have over 50 concert DVDs and this one is in my top 10.
I just saw it today, it is a must have for Heart fans! This is what I was hoping for when I built my Theater.
Picked it up, but I have yet to view it.

I'll stick it in either tonight or tomorrow and give it a view....Plus it sounds like I need to see if it will work on my 360 Add on player....

I love this HD-DVD. I watched Crazy on You and Black Dog over and over. These sisters are incredibly talented.

I recorded this concert from HDNET last year. It looked and sounded fantastic. Much better than the PBS Heart show. I should get the HDDVD in the mail tommorow. It will be nice to be able to jump around different portions of the concert. I can recycle the DVHS tape.

For Heart fans there is an HD concert featuring Heart and guests that is shown on one of the HD channels (forget which one...UHD or INHD). Excellent performances and PQ/AQ on this one also.

Did Plant and company every get royalties for Barracuda? I recall there was talk of Zepp suing them back in the late 70's. Seems only fair since Zepp had to legally pay the old bluesmen their due.

ME TOO!!

HD-XA1 Firmeware 2.0 > HDMI > Denon 4806CI

TrueHD = 2.0
DD+ = 5.0

PLUS the audio on the menu is screwed up. It sounds like a corrupt audio file. The same problem exists on Manilow - Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire - Exotic Saltwater Aquarium

Has anyone notice that the Heart: Alive in Seattle HD DVD is a 'RESUME' disc. I discovered that fact last night. I hit stop on the remote, and unlike all my other HD DVD's, the prompt that comes up says "Press Play to resume from stop point". Sure enough, resume it did!! Anyone know why the Heart disc does it, but apparently others don't?
