I've had an Anthony Gallo micro 5.1 setp for about 3 years. I'm happy with the speakers but the room is 5m x 4m and I've always felt that the system wasn't strong enough for the room size. I bought the system when I was in a smaller apartment. I especially feel the centre channel could be stronger. Voice often gets drowned out by effects when watching blurays.
I was thinking of replacing everything with the Orb Mod 2 pack. Is this a noticeably more powerful setup?
Alternatively, I was thinking of using the Orb 2 speaker (dual satellite) for my centre only. Would this fit with the other Gallos? And would it make a difference to the centre channel performance? I'd probably keep the TR1 sub.
Everything is driven by a Marantz SR 5003.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Any reason why you are trying to switch from Anthony Gallo to Orbs? Have you considered the larger Gallo's like the A'Diva or A'Diva SE? They may blend better together? It was my impression that Gallo's have a little bit lower frequency range, allowing a lower crossover than the Orbs? I would not want to discourage anyone from the Orbs, but since you already have the Gallo's... The Mod 2 system is really just two Mod1 Orbs that are connected in parallel resulting in lower impedance and more volume. Since the impedance of your micro's is 8 Ohms, maybe you could do something similar to get some more volume out of the center channel? Can your amp drive 4Ohm speakers? Anyone here done that with Gallos?
Other than that, I presume you have exhausted increasing the center volume on your amp?
