Not sure if this is the best place to put this.... this is my first post, so bear with me, please.
I'm using a the Psyclone PSC01 Source Selector to switch between all my component inputs. Currently, I have a Wii, Sony progressive scan DVD player and my DirectTV HD box hooked up to it.
The A/V lines from the Psyclone go out to my Sony A/V receiver (model STR-DE985). From there, the receiver goes out to my TV.
Both the Sony DVD and Wii look great! Absolutely phenomenal picture. The DirecTV, however looks horrible. in 480i and 480p, the screen is clear, but there is a 2" vertical bar moving slowly from right to left. In 720p and 1080i, there are thin horizontal lines shimmering on the screen. Sorta the same way a printed inkjet picture looks when you haven't cleaned/aligned the heads in a while.
I'm not sure what is is. With the exception of the 25' cable from the Sony receiver to the TV and the Wii component cable, everything is Monster brand. The 25' cable was purchased from MonoPrice.
I've tried switching the cable from the DTV box to the receiver and got the same lines. I even returned the Psyclone box to BestBuy and got the same model.
Now, here's the funny thing. Just out of curiosity, I reset the DTV box. It was about 75% done with the "acquiring satellites" step when the screen suddenly cleared up. It stayed clear until I unplugged the TV to clean up my wiring.
What could be causing this? Is there any simple fix? I have a feeling it's the Psyclone box, because if I hook up the DTV box directly to the TV, it looks fine.
