I'm still running firmware 3.88.

Then (after power off, power on) I put in Black Dynamite -- and that worked fine.

I actually just watched Couples Retreat last night on my HD1. Worked great, no issues whatsoever, I am running FW 3.95. Try updating the FW and it should work fine...as far as the movie goes, pretty good, funny but thought it would have been better for a Vince Vaughn movie. I think that there were actually too many big names that kind of overshadowed Vaughn.

I tried to watch The Greatest Game Ever Played (still at firmware 3.88), and it hung too. So, reading the writing on the wall I updated the firmware to 3.95 via DVD-R, and now Couples Retreat is playing.

EDIT: The Greatest Game Ever Played works too.

Good to hear they worked! Now hopefully Pioneer continues to update the FW for our HD1, otherwise some of these new titles may not play!

Good question; guess it depends on how much it can be repaired for. It is quite the dinosaur now - but certainly good and reliable for its day.

Sounds like it might be the drive that went bad. You might be able to pick a drive up real cheap on Ebay. If that is the case then I would definitely keep it and fix it...the HD1 is a great BD player, I still have mine, almost 4 years old now and works like the day that I purchased it!

Does anybody have this? I missed it last year.

The Pioneer link says "page not found." I Googled, but couldn't come up with any other links. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I have this and updated it a while ago when it first came out. I have been using FW 4.0 for a while now and it works without any issues...I just tried the support page for the HD1 on Pioneer's website and am seeing the same thing you are. It appears a problem with the site. I know a lot of people having been complaining about having issues with their website recently, especially after they redid the site. I have the update, but unfortunately it is way too large to e-mail you, it is about 48mb.

I can provide a web hosting service for you to transfer
the file and then anyone can download. I looked on my
hosting server - because at one time I was HOSTING
copies for Pioneer.

That sounds good to me. I would happy to provide the FW update for anyone to be able to download. Let me know.

Guys, I do so appreciate your rallying to assist. But...it seems I downloaded it back in November, and never did anything with it. I just found it.

I wanted to let you know before you all went to any trouble.

Warm regards.

Just an FYI...there is a new FW update, version 4.20, added on Pioneers website on 5/10/11. I just downloaded and will try later to install. Not sure if it is available via internet download yet, I will check later before I install from a DVD.
