Wow, big changes. Looks great! Those doors sound really cool.

Here's a crude mockup of the doors. I need to figure out how to deal with the double doors and sound leaking between. Not too worried about it since it's just a bar/ gameroom outside. Anyone have double doors?

Finished the Linacoustic on the under side of the soffit and front wall.

"Snack" Bar

Looks like some cold, adult beverages may be served at that "snack bar." Is that tile on the front? How about some closer pics of the bar. It looks great, nice work.

Red Glass tile on the front, absolute black granite on top. I'll take some pics once I get it grouted and get the floor tile down.

Tile guys got to work on the entrance this week. 2" Brushed Stainless Tiles- it's a tad over the top, hoping the grout will tone it down a bit.....

Another shot of the "Snack" bar. Red glass tiles, absolute black granite on top, honed slate on the floor.

I got the doors ordered - 2 solid core flat wood doors that I'll take over to the custom door guy to cut the portholes and build the frame.

I pulled all the lighting under the soffits on the sides out because there was no way to stagger them with the sconces because of how I have the A/C vents situated. So....I'll only have the sconces on the sides, should be OK. i added 3 cans to the back wall.

I'm also changing the back row of chairs to sofas. My buddy who has a theater recommended a sofa so you can lay the kids out. Just found out I got my first kid on the way, hence the change in plans.

(96''W x 44''D x 36''H) which if I get 2 will fit perfectly accross the back of the room with an inch to spare on each side. I'll get 2 or 3 matching ottomans to float around. I'll build in a drink ledge behind.

My A/V guy is telling me if I do dipole speakers in the back that I can have the couch 6-8 inches from the back wall. Anyone disagree?

The revised plan:

SKYWLKR- GEAUX TIGERS!!

It is part of the construction of my house so just using the builder's guys so far and it has worked out great. Doing the trimout myself, anything that I can't cut fingers off while doing...... Custom Audio Video did all the prewire as well as Lutron Radio Ra and Grafik Ra throughout the house. They will help with the PJ/ Screen and equipment install as well.

Finally making my way back to the Theater project. The gameroom outside the theater is done.

The "Snack Bar"

Theater Entrance- Black Diamond slate on the steps, 2" Stainless tiles

Lightboxes

Arcade

Poker

Now on to getting the theater done. I made some simple frames out of 1X2's, wrapped with Black GOM and installed in the corner of the soffits.

Next I made a panel for the back wall soffit

Installed the back panel by nailing to underside of the soffit which I had previously applied Linacoutic. I pulled the GOM up over the bevel and stapled on top. Got the idea from Chinadog and it looks dyn-o-mite!

Here are the two side panels. Waiting on some help to install as they are 16' long.....

I stumbled upon you post about a week or so ago, but saw no update for several months and was curious how the build was coming along.

I imagine the Geaux Zone is out of operation for awhile with the reports I'm hearing of Gustavs damage to the electrical system. I'm hearing months, not weeks! Holy Canola!

Hope you faired well.

Old, Jeff- Thanks much

Tony- 7 days without power, not too bad

I'm finding that I should have gotten the theater done before my first child arrived.....getting back into the project again working on the screenwall area framing. Finding that I could have made the stage bigger.....

I did get the soffit done and will post some pics of the progress shortly.

I also figured out how to turn the volume down on Galaga and Centipede, amazing what you can find online...someone had scanned the original manuals.

Hey Paul. Long time no post. I hear ya about the child thing. My two four year olds are my best excuse for not working on the room.

Glad to see you back.

Back to work most of the day today and made some progress. Put up Linacoustic on the sides of the stage, started on the Proscenium walls, and got the box done to cover the Center/ Subs. I've got 2' sq inside the box in case I want to go with the Krell Resolution Subs to match my L/R/C.

I've settled on a 55 X 132 High Power Cinema Contour which with the frame will give me 3/4" to spare on each side inside my proscenium walls.

Got the screen and surrounds ordered. Thought it would be easier to mount the screen and surrounds, then work on the fabric panels.

Dalite High Power Cinema Contour (2.40:1) 55X132
4 -Paradigm ADP-390

Slowly making progress on the proscenium and started the built-in/ drink ledge for the sectional couch in back.

Trying to build fabric panels out of 1X2's for the proscenium turned out to be an exercize in futility, warped wood, overstretched fabric, just a nightmare.....

I just ordered some Fabricmate Tracks to get the job done. If I need to get to the speakers, I'll just replace the fabric.....

Next on the agenda is ordering some carpet!

I'm looking for substrate to use in my build.....I am using fabricmate track, 1" track on the front and back walls, 1/2" track on the side walls because using the 1" would cause issues with my existing trim.

Not sure if 1/2" material will do anything for me acoustically, but the material is hard to find anyway.....Fabricmate has a product called ReCore that comes in 1/2"- Anyone have experience with it?

I'm thinking I'll do Linacoustic on the bottom 48", should I just treat the whole side walls with it or do I need something else for the upper half?

Front wall and 3' of adjacent side wall has Linacoustic now and I was going to do Linacoustic on the bottom of the back wall and 1" fiberglass on the upper.

Room is 16'W X 21'D X 12'H
