Vancouver, BC... AVS Forum HD DVD tour stop March 9 - Page 2

Thanks for creating the thread. It is hard to say how many people it takes to make it worthwhile since in some locations, only 50% came, in others, we had everyone come. So ideally, you get 25 people or so who say yes, to assure that we get 15 people or so. It costs us quite a bit in time and expense to do these sessions so we want to make them worthwhile.

I'd say you are pretty close to getting critical mass. As Art says, we strive for one session as a lot of the time is spent telling stories () and it gets hard to repeat the same thing twice in the same day.

Thanks for your interest and reply Amir.

If the group needs more warm bodies, I'm sure i can bring a few along for the show. Several friends of mine are on the cusp but have not yet made the HD plunge.

I'm confident the numbers will be there.

The meeting definitely is not limited to HD DVD owners. Indeed, we would love to convert a few more people to HD DVD .

I have gone ahead and penciled in Vancouver as we get to schedule new cities this year.

Thank You Amir!

Perhaps the mods would kindly consider making this thread a sticky so when Amir actually picks a date it will be easy to find and confirm attendance.

Happy New Year

OK, here is the deal. You guys have met the minimum requirement so we will go ahead and schedule the visit. But if those friends of yours don't show up, you have the choice of a) getting us some great chinese food in Richmond or b) showing me a great place beside the border for taking pictures of white owls. Deal?

Just kidding . Thanks for all your effort to organize this. It will be our priviledge to come and chat with you all.

I will post more info once we get through the rush of CES.

Happy new year everyone.

Seeing as how I work in the electronics department at the downtown Costco location, and currently sell the HDA1, I would have loved to get some demo material from Toshiba. But unfortunately, Costco is not an "authorized" Toshiba dealer.

I could bring some of our awesome party trays from our fresh food / deli department. Featuring yummy cheeses, fresh cut fruits and gourmet sandwiches and goodies! That would go well with the beer and wine being offered by another potential attendee!

I am eagerly awaiting this as it would be really great to meet some new HD and home theater fans!

Wow...a sticky. Sweet!

I also have a friend I am sure would attend, if we want any more people. We're both in Langley.

Oh, I was hoping this would take place this coming weekend, as I'm planning to be in Seattle at that time. I would have gladly driven to Vancouver to meet with you. Anything planned for the southwest?

Ukrainians are not the only nationality to make good perogies My wife is of Mennonite descent and makes perogies as well as my Ukrainian grandma did. She would also love to attend the meeting.

OK, you guys can start throwing your friends into the bay as you have enough critical mass without them.

Seriously, it is great to see suh high level of interest. Just to set expectations, we are now deep into CES which will occupy us for at least two weeks. So we are looking at sometime past that for those of you who are planning your schedule. I will keep you posted as we firm up our plans.
