Hmmm, Verus Envy. . . that's pretty good too.

What do you think Hicks? I know you're biased, but you are the only one that can truly compare the 6T/6C to the Verus Grand. Is there a significant difference between the two? Is it worth it to trade "up"?

Thanks

Jason-

I know you mentioned the bipole, but are you guys planning to expand the versus line even further? I'm specifically thinking of a bookshelf with a 6.5" woofer and/or a smaller center channel to match the current bookshelves.

I know we spoke this morning, but for anyone else that is wondering the big upgrades to my ear are the new tweeter that gives a smoother high frequency response that we can also crossover a little lower than we did for the 6T to take some stress off the woofers, and the more open midrange we get from the extra 5.25" woofers.

A smaller center channel is in the works, but no there are no plans to do a 6.5" bookshelf at this time.

Well after speaking with Jason this morning, I've decided to get the Verus Grand towers and center channel. Thank you for answering my questions.

So I got my 4t's and 5c yesterday from Aperion! It took only three days to get them up to Alaska, way ahead of schedule. Luckily my receiver showed up early too. I am still waiting for the sub and surrounds to arrive later today.

Initial impressions....WOW!

As I disconnected my *!#$ HTIB/associated wiring and replaced it with the my front ensemble of Aperion speakers my sound quality was vastly improved before I even powered up the new a/v receiver . As I connected the last pair of banana plugs to the F/R tower my wife came in and said "You should have just got those Bose speakers at Best Buy". I didn't even bother to reply to her blasphemous tongue at such a sacred moment in my young a/v career, so I simply gave her a smug smile and continued putting the batteries into the pio 1120's remote.

Since I had no sub yet I elected to run the 4t's as large on the speaker setup for 2.0 listening. All of our family music is stored on the pc and streamed through our network to the XBOX 360. I had an infinite amount of songs to choose from but landed on "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root. As the song progressed into the first chorus I had successfully shrugged off my wife's comment regarding a certain lifestyle system and enjoyed details in this music that I was previously not privy too. By design the 4t's couldn't dig down into those deep frequencies but they handled everything with the grace that I had read in many reviews. I decided to let the album play though and watch my two young kids dance around the room for the next half hour. After this I listened to some Frank Zappa where again I was able to hear instruments and details that my HTIB could never reproduce.

As this was my first run with these speakers, and I am holding off on doing any kind of calibrations till I get all of the components, it was easy for me just to enjoy the music. I hope to be able to do some critical listening later this weekend after I get a chance to hook everything up and calibrated. But I will say this, you cannot go wrong with some 4t's in a small to mid sized room (my room is approximately 2100 cu. ft.).

P.S. My wife grabbed the remote from me during my Frank Zappa jams (she doesn't appreciate Frank like I do) and listened to her stuff. I left to town to pick up some stuff for my boat and came back an hour later to see her glued to the recliner still I am now officially WAF approved!

Thanks Aperion!

I'm very jealous. I posted this on the Aperion Audio forum, but I currently have a 6T, 6C, 6B, and some old towers to complete my 7.1 system. After seeing the Verus Grand speakers, I was thinking of getting them and shifting the 6Ts to the side rears (replacing the old towers). But after talking with customer service at Aperion, it sounds like these new Verus Grand speakers are not timber matched with the 6T/6C/6B series speakers. More importantly, they would not match with the 6C. And since I bought the 6C almost 2yrs ago, I can't upgrade.

I was wondering what you guys would do? Would you finish off the system with a pair of 6Ts or get the Verus Grands? Hicks, any input from you?
When I talked to Jason, he mentioned the timber issue. He said the tweeter difference between the Intimus and Verus was too great for them to seem seamless.

Hey Jason is their anyway you can post pictures of the Verus with the grills on? Also, I just noticed that the Verus is rear ported. How far away from the wall should they be? Oh and a pic of the binding post. Please.

Anybody else try this? Are the 4Cs symetrical? Do they do ok vertically in a cabinet?

I get to go pick up my Grand Verus towers and center this week I can't wait.
I took this Thursday off of work just to hook up and listen to them.

I've listened to them at Aperion for about 30 minutes so far. I can't wait to hear them at home. Thursday can't come soon enough.

Very exciting! Did you A/B them with the 6T? If so, what was your impression? Thanks, Blue

Yes I did a/b them while I was at Aperion and i also have owned the 6Ts for about a year now. Like Hicks said the first initial big difference is how the tweeter sounds. Do get me wrong I loved my 6T but the highs good be a bit fatiguing at times. The highs on the new towers sound slightly more laid back but posses the same level of detail. I also think that the mids are a nice blend of the 5Ts and the 6Ts. As for the over all sound I would say the Verus towers sound a little more open.

Once I have time to listen to my own set for a little while I will add more impressions.

Hey Everyone,

I'm new here on the forum (haven't been on in years!), but not new to Aperion. I've been looking at them online for about a year now and have been saving up for a future purchase of some 5Ts, 4BPs, and a 5C. These speakers will be in a 17ft x 13ft room, and use is 50/50 music/movies. Deciding which sub to get is giving me a lot of trouble so I'm hoping you all can help me out!

I like a lot of bass, and I like to be able to feel it too. I like feeling the "double bass" hits of hardcore music in my chest, I like explosions in movies to have a visceral impact, I like to feel like I was standing next to the cannon as it fired, etc. Budget is a concern for me, otherwise I'd just get 2 12Ds and be done with it! As it is, I can only afford around $1000 worth of Sub.

So the question is: do I go for 1 12D or 2 8Ds?

1) Which would provide the most amount of tactile feedback from the things mentioned above?

2) If the dual 8Ds would provide more tactile response, is it worth giving up the 10+ hz extension the 12D would give me?

3) I'm told that going with dual subs really helps smooth out the bass response in rooms, from this point alone is it worth it go go the 8D route, or should I stick with the 12D?

4) Is there another option that I'm not considering and should be?

Could any 12D owners chime in with regards to the tactile impact/feel of the sub? Is anyone running dual 8Ds that could share their experiences?

Thanks in advance for the replies!

They do pretty well, but their sound field will be more narrow when placed upright.

The Verus Grand speakers just came out yesterday. I doubt anyone has compared them with anything other than what the Aperion team has done internally with their own, older gear.
Just noticed that the 12D is cheaper by $100. Is this a prelude to a Verus Grand 15D? I'm looking for a 15" subwoofer and that would be awesome. Maybe with two Kevlar drivers, 1000W BASH amp, and 10Hz bass extension? One can dream I suppose.

Well my outdoor white ones arrived about 2 weeks ago. I've taken them out of the box but I'm deciding whether or not to install them now or wait until next Spring since it's getting colder and the chances of hanging outside has dropped significantly....still don't know if they work (I'm sure they do though)...
Iam not sure if iam reading this right .. 6T Vs Verus Grand Tower

6T
(+/- 3dB) 36-20,000 Hz -- (+/- 6dB) 28-22,000 Hz

Verus Grand Tower
(+/- 3dB) 45-20,000 Hz -- (+/- 6dB) 35-22,000 Hz

6T goes lower than Verus Grand Tower -- Correct?

One 12D can fill a 17X13 room (as long as it's closed) quite well and the extra 10 Hz of bass extension that you get from it is fairly apparent.

So I would lean toward doing one 12D.

That's correct because the 6T cabinet is much larger.

But hitting 35 Hz at -6 dB is no slouch in the bass department in my opinion.
