My last set were the black but when I saw there new cherry finish I had to have it. What speakers are you replacing? I think you should be excited. I listened to these all day and all I could do was smile all day.

I haven't heard anyone talk about there new center I watched Master and Commander & Iron Man 2 today all I can say is wow.Dialog and special effects from the center were effortless. It seems way more open and integrates better then the old 6C - 6T speakers.

I will post more later. Can't wait to see what you think. Also I know the 6T stated that the bass went lower but I swear the bass extension is very impressive in the new Verus towers. I finally got to turn off my sub and just sit back and just listen to music. wow I'm just rambling ....all I can say is you will hear them soon.

Good to know you're enjoying the Verus. I too am replacing two 6Ts and a 6C. I'm keeping my 4BPs for lack of a better option. I was a little skeptical but after reading your posts, my skepticism is fading. It's kind of a leap of faith buying speakers that just hit the market. With no independent reviews I had only what the employees of Aperion could tell me to make the call. Not that I think they would steer me wrong but there loyalty is to the company and I highly doubt they would bad mouth there own product. My new speakers should arrive today .

I want to see reviews but I'm really interested in what my ears tell me. Have friends with somewhat pricey Paradigms so that will also be a reference and my other option. If they really kick I might get brave enough to visit one of my friends who has Linn.

My demo CD is Weather Report's Heavy Weather, particularly for the mids and upper and mid bass when the music is complicated and layered. Eagles' Hell Freezes Over DVD is a little flattering but for vocals it's great. Maybe I'll also pop in something from Justin Beiber if it'll help fast forward his 5 minutes.

Hi there, I was looking for a place to ask this question and here seems as good as any...

I was in the market for a pair of wireless surround sound speakers for my main home theater setup, since my new house doesn't have any in-wall wiring currently.

I came across the Aperion Zona Wireless Surround Speaker System in my research. They look nice, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience using them, in conjunction with a Sonos music system.

My main concern is the channel switching over the 2.4GHz frequency. The Aperion site describes their technology as "The wireless technology automatically identifies and avoids other 2.4 GHz signals that could otherwise cause interference.."

Sonos in the past has had issues with other technologies trying to "find the best channel" over 2.4GHz , so I was curious if anyone had any personal experience with these Aperion Zona speakers, and a Sonos setup.

In addition, I like the looks of the Aperion Intimus 4T Summit Wireless 5.1 System, and I am not sure if this system uses the same wireless technology as the Zona speaker system. If it is different, and interferes less with Sonos, I might want to hold out and just buy the Intimus.

Thanks for any information

Well I just set up my new Verus towers and center. B E A U tiful!!!!!!!! Ran Audyssey and now I'm watching movies. WOW!!! I don't know how to describe it but I LOVE THEM!! A lot. I like them much more than the 6Ts and 6C. I don't know how to explain it. They just sound better. So far I've only watched movies but I am very happy to say the least. I wish I could write reviews like the professionals, with tons of colorful adjectives but I'm not that good. All I can say is my ears are VERY happy.

The only gripe, and its small, is two tiny blemishes on the top of both towers. I'll never notice them again but I'll know they're there. I haven't quite decided if I want to make an issue of it. I guess I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

I am very pleased to be joining the Aperion Club and I have on order the Aperion Intimus 6T Hybrid HD System which as you probably know includes the following:
-2 6Ts
-1 6C
-2 5Bs
-1 Bravus II Subwoofer 10"

My question is how best to power the foregoing?
I've been doing a fair bit of a reading on the subject and have come up with a few possibilities including the following:
1. An Emotiva XPA-3 for the 3 fronts and perhaps a UPA-2 for the rest plus a Pre/Pro;
2. A UPA-5 or XPA-5 for the lot plus a Pre/Pro; and
2. An XPA-3 for the fronts in addition to an AVR for the balance.

I like to listen to music and watch movies probably on a 50/50 basis and usually on a fairly loud basis.
Thanks you in advance for any advice.

Good news!! Crap! That means I may be doing the trade up program sooner than I was planning. I just bought the 6T, et. al. a couple months ago. Was planning to get close to a full year out of them before moving up to the Verus. Sounds like I may be doing that sooner.

I would like to have a timbre matched surround, other than a bookcase. So, maybe I can hold out until next year and see if Aperion releases one at that time.

Yeah, I have a small blemish on the front of one of my 6T. It's mainly noticeable when the sunlight shines on it at a certain time of the day. It's a small recess in the material/wood about the diameter of a dime. For me, it wasn't worth messing with. Although, I am usually very picky about that kind of stuff and it's all I can focus on.

Keep the "reviews" coming. Blue

Based on what I am reading an upgrade is likely to the Venus Towers and Center. I currently have 4-5T's and the 5C. I am thinking I will upgrade my two fronts and center to the Venus, keeping my other two 5T's for the rear channels.

The biggest issue I have had is finding a stand to accommodate the Venus center channel speaker and my other components. My current stand will not handle the 9" height of the Venus center, plus the other A/V components. Any stand recommendation would be appreciated.

I have enjoyed hearing the new owner comments on the Venus(thank you). If any of you have the Gloss Black finish and wouldn't mind posting photos it would be greatly appreciated.

I too have 6T's and a 6C up front and just set up a new XPA-3 this weekend with the surrounds still powered by my Pioneer SC-27 AVR. I like the XPA-3 so much that I am considering returning it and getting the XPA-5. I don't think I will ever use an AVR's amp section again.

So I say get the XPA-5 and to save a lot of $$$, just get a decent AVR with pre-outs. I don't understand the high dollars being asked for Pre/Pros when you can buy an AVR with most of the same features for half the $$$. My Pioneer SC-27 is one good example. And I still have capability to use the Zone 2 amp section in the SC-27 to power my outdoor speakers.

Thank you for posting the pictures of the Gloss Black Verus, they look beautiful.

I have a question about speaker stability. I noticed they are not using the platform base on these speakers. The footprint looked a little small?

Lastly, what type of material is on the speaker base, I mean..what material surface would go against the floor?

Thank you again for your time and photos.

blacksheepvictor sure wish you would post some pictures ....they look excellent. Anyone in the SW Michigan area that wants to purchase slightly used 6Ts.
blacksheepvictor - nice pictures...

I'm glad you are enjoying the new speakers. I also think the Verus speakers are a big jump up from the 6Ts and 6C.

Sorry I'm still a newbie so this is my first attempt to do a write up.

I started out at Aperion doing initial a/b comparisons switching back and forth between the 6Ts and VGTs. I just wanted to refresh my ears of that the old speakers sounded like. I brought my Dad along for a second opinion.
We both agreed that the VGTs were a huge improvement in Aperion's speaker offering.
Let me make of most of my comments about my at home experience.
I think Aperion's listening room is very dead, flat but accurate.

I think my first impression when listening to both speakers was that the 6Ts seem to be lacking space between the highs-mids-lows. Everything sounds like it is squished into the mids with slight high and bass notes here and there. The VGTs are very open and effortless filling in the whole spectrum of sound.

For example I really didn't like listening to rock/heavy rock with the 6Ts. I find that most rock recordings are already full of upper mids and the 6Ts sort of magnified this frequency range making the music very fatiguing on my ears.

Moving into the VGTs not only was the sound stage more open, but I felt the way the speakers reproduced the whole spectrum was very amazing. The way these speaker handle voices is a dream. Especially listening to something like Norah Jones I sat back, closed my eyes and it just made me smile and felt like she was singing in my living room. I would classify them as much more musical then the 6Ts.

I wanted to make a special comment about people talking about the loss of some of the lower bass on the new towers. Yes the 6Ts are rated to a lower frequency but do not write of the VGTs. I always used a sub with the 6Ts when listening to music, mostly to reinforce the lower frequencies.
Keep in mind I only have a few hours of break in but the bass on the VGTs is out of this world for me. I turned off my sub and just ran them in full for testing. To get things going I started Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas for it busy synth parts and heavy bass........sorry I had to grab my jaw off the floor. Not only did I not need a sub but the bass response of the VGTs could be heard and felt. I spent a lot of time listening to the 6Ts yes they could produce some nice low notes but I never felt like I could feel the lower notes. I'm not a huge bass nut; I mostly like it to be balanced with the entire sound.
I listened to a variety of music and each song was a rediscovery. The VGTs have wonderful separation. You can easily hear all instruments playing there parts of the songs yet the presentation of the whole is smooth, open harmony.
I wish I knew how to describe the pace, attach, resolveblah blah blah but I just don't have the experienced ear of a professional
All I can say is that for only a $204 per speaker cost increase moving to the new Verus towers is a no brainer. To me the jump from the 6T to VGT is like going from the 4B to the 6T.night and day.
Also I don't want to forget to mention that the new VGC is an equal jump up.

Sorry for the scattered thoughts. Let me put in some more time and try and focus my write up and I will most some more lately.
The new bookshelf speakers are pretty amazing as well. I would say they are as good or better then the 5Ts and would be fun to put up against the 6Bs.

More later..

Is there a base? I didn't see one on the Aperion site. Perhaps I missed it. Anyway, I'm wondering about stability as well.

The new feet are made out of cast metal that are attached to the base. On carpet they are a slightly wobbly with out the spikes but not bad at all.
I frankly love the new foot print.

I wanted to add other note.

All the new speakers are MDF now but braced much better then the old speakers.

We did a knock test on the 6T verses the VGT and it was a night and day difference. The 6Ts sounded like a hollow door next to the VGTs.

IZETECI

First off thanks for taking the time to do your write-up, I appreciated your impressions and comparisons.

Regarding the speaker feet, is the metal bare or is there a protective coating? I have wood flooring, so I am concerned about stability, speaker vibration and not wanting to scratch my floors.
