Alright, does anyone have the info. from the show regarding the updates?

Ok guys, so here it is, announcing custom finishes for the Verus line!

There are going to be a bunch of finish choices, but basically if you have a finish you want will we try and make it happen!

Here is the pricing:

Verus Grand Bookshelves $999/pair

Verus Grand Towers: $1499 each

Verus Grand Center: $999 each

Verus Surround: $1099/pair

Bravus 12D subwoofer: $1299 each

I think it's particularly great news for folks that wanted a different finish for their subs, because the Bravus 12D in custom finish at $1299 is a pretty good deal in my admittedly biased opinion.

The lead times on these speakers will be 90 days.

There is a 50% non-refundable deposit.

Returns will be refunded at 50%.

And now for the best part, here's an exclusive pic of a Verus Grand Bookshelf in Bird Eye Maple straight from the RMAF that has not been posted anywhere else yet, enjoy! smile.gif

Hey guys, I'm thinking of purchasing left and right front speakers from Aperion and am trying to decide between the Intimus 5Bs or the Versus grand speakers. I can afford the Versus grand speakers but at $228 more per pair compared to the 5Bs, are they really worth it? My max spending range for front left and right speakers is $600. I would be using the speakers for movies (70%), video games (20%) and music (10%). My room is 1,228 cu.ft. I am not a critical music listener and I really just care about having good speakers for movies. I plan on pairing the speakers I buy with a Hsu Research Stf-2 subwoofer. I also want to add that I am upgrading from a JBL HTIB with Sat10 speakers and this is my first jump into higher end bookshelf speakers. I plan on building my system over time and I plan to keep whatever speakers I buy for a long time.

Listened to the verus grand line for the first time at RMAF and fell in love with them, so much so that they sold me the floor model bookshelf at the end of the show for a screaming price. Just plugged them in and so far loving them.

Congrats! I saw those and the finish is beautiful. They were trying to sell me the towers for $1,500 for the pair, but i am not quite ready for a new set. Also, and maybe this was a product of the show, I wasn't blown away by the openness of the high end on the VG towers. Probably because I listened to a bunch of awesome speakers with ribbon tweeters at the show.

Hello there,

If you are only doing 10% music I think you'll be really happy with the 5Bs. The differences between the 5Bs and the Verus Grand Bookshelves are most noticeable when you are listening to music, so for only 10% of your usage I don't think the upgrade will really be worth it for you.

I hope that helps!

You did indeed get a great deal, thanks for posting the picture!

This pic is a bit grainy, but check out the Ebony finish on the VGTs.

Anybody want to help addictaudio out over here so he doesn't end up with Klipsch speakers? wink.gif

I've heard the VGTs next to the RX8 Silvers myself and thought the VGT blew them away in terms of imaging, midrange fullness and high frequency detail but of course I'm somewhat biased.

HI Jason, not to worry. I would only go Klipsch if it were the RF7's, but those are at a much higher retail point. Narrowing down my decision at this point. I do not mind at all if you post the the thread that I created, if you wish:)

First thoughts with the VGT: somewhere between awful and nothing-special. ("Hello Hicks.")

I hear very little difference from my existing cheapo Polk RTI70. I need more than this or they're going back.

Than I figured out how to turn off the Audyssey stuff from my also brand-new Marantz SR6006. That was it. Much better. I need to start over.

I'm not familiar with the new(to me) room correction features. Hopefully I just have it setup wrong, it's as if Audyssey is taking two different classes of speakers and making them equally bad. Impressive.

I had a bad mic with my DHC-80.3 and resulted in a very poor calibration. See the Audyssey thread.

Sorry if this has been brought up / discussed in the thread already, but I was about to pull the trigger on a full set of VGs (with SVS sub) when I realized you can no longer buy the bipole/dipole surrounds. Support said "We don't have a revision on the dipole/bipole planned at this time. Unfortunately, as for when they will be back in stock, it most likely won't be before April of next year."

This is my room setup. I have to hang these on the wall about 8 feet high.

What should I do? I'm concerned now that whatever surrounds I get won't match my VGs. And I'm concerned that the bookshelf speakers would be too large and kind of an eyesore where I have to place them. I haven't found any good pics online of these things actually wall mounted.

Will the Intimus 4BP surrounds match well? That seems to be the closest option currently provided by Aperion. But I have read that the Intimus and Verus lines are not timbre matched to each other.

If you are new to the current Audyssey then you should do some background work to get the most out of your setup.

Follow the Audyssey instructions carefully and ask for help if things don't seem to be going well.

I as well was really bummed out, as I was set on purchasing a complete VGT set-up, until I found about about the surrounds being sold out and no more coming in until next year. Direct firing speakers cannot provide that diffused sourround effect as the dual baffle bipole/dipole speakers can; especially on a 5.1 set-up with them directly to the side of the listeting position. The VGB would be great though on a 7.1 set-up with them being setup behind the listening position.

PS: How does one know when their mic. is bad during the audyssey set-up?

Bummer indeed. May I ask what your plan is? Will you wait til next year or order VGBs?

Unfortunately to do 7.1 I would need to put the rears in the ceiling and I have my doubts as to how well in ceiling speakers would match the rest of the set.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm finally ready to pull the trigger this week, and they're gone from the site! I was going with VGT front + VGC, VGB for the rears and VG Surrounds for the sides, but not sure what to do now.
Also, does anyone have any recommended wall mounts for the VG bookshelf speakers as surrounds?

Yeah sorry guys it's a bummer for me as well that we don't have the Verus Surrounds right now. I think the 4BP are a great temporary solution however, keep in mind that the most important speakers to match are your fronts and center, so mixing in a slightly different surround does not usually pose an issue.

If you do go that route then you could use the one year trade up program to go from the 4BPs to the Verus Surrounds when they get back in stock.

So that is what I would do if I were in your shoes, or if you want to stay within the Verus line you could do the same thing with the Verus Forte Satellite and then trade those up.

The Omni mounts that we sell here work great for the VGBs:

http://www.aperionaudio.com/things-you-need/speaker-stands-and-mounts/omni-wall-mount-4-series-and-5-series

We will also have our own brand of mounts back in stock in December if you aren't in a hurry.

I hope that helps but please let me know if you guys have other questions and sorry again to everyone that is waiting for the Verus Surrounds.

I just put up a new for sale post in the classifieds here.

Selling a pair of Aperion Intimus 6B monitors and a 6C center channel speaker.

All three are piano black.

Thanks.

Hi All,

Just ordered Verus Forte Towers and Center. I am excited to try them out.
Found a great deal on a Marantz 7005, which may be overkill, but leaves room to upgrade...
Any thoughts on the combination or tips on set up? (I've got an old Atlantic Technology 172PBM sub and some BA CR4 surrounds.)

Oh- and any plans for Thanksgiving sale again? Will Aperion guarantee price change?

Thanks

We use a Marantz SR7005 in one of our sound rooms and it sounds great.

It's also in a small room and may be a bit of overkill, but the extra power certainly doesn't hurt.

I recommend starting with an 80Hz crossover for all the speakers but if you want to get a little more bass out of them you can also try a 60 Hz crossover too.

Yes we will price match for any promo within your 30 day trial, but it's not very likely that we will be running any promos for the Verus product as they are selling quite well on their own.

Order my Grand Towers and Grand Center speakers on Tuesday, can't wait.
These will be connected to a Yamaha RX-A3000 and a Emotiva XPA-3, I'm guessing this should be plenty of power for all three.
Hope to get them this weekend but looks more like Monday but still can't wait.

Thanks, for an informative and easy purchase, Aperion Audio.

Wow didn't you recently purchase some Axioms....It would be great if you can post some observations on the two. I've owned Axioms and wonder how they would compare to yet...another ID both in build and SQ.

Good luck with the Aperions they make some very nice stuff....smile.gif

Have a full set of Verus Grands on the way. Delivery tomorrow. I'll be rocking 5.1 since the bipolar's are out of stock. Then adding them in hopefully in January for a 7.1 setup.

I got my speakers on Friday, and my new receiver does not show up until next wednesday, so I'm not going to get to listen to them yet.

However, that said, the unboxing experience was pretty cool. I unboxed the center channel, then put on my white gloves and slid the speaker out of the felt sack it was in. Very cool. I got the piano black versions, and the finish really is like a grand piano. I felt like I was holding a really high end musical instrument in my hands. Can't wait to hear how they sound.

I still have to open the towers, and bookshelf rears. Will do that tomorrow as I'm setting up the projector, screen, and equipment rack today. It's like christmas at my house, only santa wrapped all the presents in generic cardboard boxes.
