Rustolem I see in your signature that you have an Emotiva XPA-5 with your Aperion's VGT’s. How well do you think they sound together, do you wish you had a different amp with them?

It makes all the difference in the world, I had started with a XPA-3, on the VGT/C and it sounds great I couldn't ever imagine going back to just using my AVR. I had no idea of how much cleaner the sound gets with the Amp, it also really brought out the sound in my surrounds as well.

Could not agree more.... the XPA-3 or 5 is a no brainer imho

If you don't mind the digression -- I've been debating an amplifier, but don't have one yet. How much of a difference does it really make? I know how much of a difference Audyssey MultiEQ XT makes -- it's absolutely essential, IMHO. Can't go back. But something like the XPA-3 or 5... what kind of a step up is it compared to Audyssey?

What a valentine, I received my VGT yesterday and I hooked them up today. What a difference from my old speakers. Pink Floyd never sounded so good.

Apples and Oranges comparison. Audyssey is a great the best IMO for room correction and my XPA-3 really made the soundstage on my 3 fronts sound better/cleaner/movies are more dynamic plus the XPA 3 is running my 3 fronts while my Denon is running my surrounds and sub. Plus with a Amp I can do up to 11.2 when and if I want. I recommend a Amp especially if your setup will benefit from one as my does. But they do work well together. Audyssey sets everything perfect with or without a Amp.

Congrads.... I think the omni mount brackets would work better than the clamp style
post #6341 of 6862
true...but i already have the clamp installed on my wall with my psb B6's so i wold rather not patch holes and put new mounts up....maybe in the future but not now

I was told differently by the online gurus and actually pulled the trigger based on this information. They said free shipping both ways on the open box vgb. I hope they honor this if I do not see an improvement over my current setup eek.gif

what are you going to use them for the most, cause for me its mostly movies and them music, and for me the grand center channel cant be beat and i never feel the need to make it "louder" its just so clear.
My #1 love is movies. But music has really crept up on me lately. Went from 95/5 movies/music to 55/45 movies music since upgrading to psb b6/c5 and an emotiva xpa-5

But mainly the reason for all my HT gear is movies. Music is just a great bonus!

Thanks for the information I think I am going to get the XPA-3 amp in the next couple of weeks and then looking at the VGT & center need some inwalls for rears.

Hey if you can afford it, you should go for the XPA-5, I had then XPA-3 then moved up to the 5 and it was worth the extra cost, having my surrounds on the amp brought them to life and heard more than I ever did before.

I have never had the PSB, but went from Polk to GoldenEar Triton 2's to the Axioms and the Aperions are a perfect blend of the the 2, giving me plenty of volume like the Axiom but also the awesome clarity of the GoldenEars. Just don't forget to run your room correction software when you get them in place.
One question for you have you ever thought of moving your Sub to another spot in the room? I had always had mine in the front next to my tower but after getting my HSU I put it to the right of the main listening zone about 6 feet away next to the wall and it has made so much difference in the sound.
Unfortunately. That's the only spot it can go frown.gif. But the good news other than a few peaks in the upper regions. I am very flat down to about 10 in that corner

Anyone see any issues with running an Intimus 4C with VGB for the front soundstage? This is due to size limitations. I can not go with the 5C, which Hicks said would work fine with the VGB. Also, any issue running Intimus 4BP's for the rears? Rustoleom.....would you recommend the QS8's for surrounds, or would the QS4's suffice for a room 15'x15'? They would be mounted on the sides up in corners where the side walls meet the back wall.

My room is 19x19x8 and Qs8's around right behind me about 5 feet up and about 3 to 4 feet from my listening area, and for me I could not imagine using anything else for my surrounds, always go with the bigger if you can justify the cost, you can always turn the volume down on the if needed. If you read the reviews on any Axiom Speakers the Qs8's always get more praise then any of their other speakers. These are 1/2 the size of my old Polk Bipoles and put out twice the sound and detail.

Cool glad it works there, for me being the only person in the house I have been able to make just how I want it and was able to movie mine over in the corner, only problem is running the Sub cable under the front door around the wall but sooo worth it...

Thanks....how well do they work with the VGB's? I have never had speakers like the QS's, so I dont know if there is an issue with how they sound with the Aperions (ie--different tone) Have you heard the 4C center?
speaking of axiom, has anyone compared the top line axiom m-80 towers and matching center to the Verus Grand towers and center?

There are some previous threads on this topic, like this one, or this one, or this one.

Well I have the VG Towers and Center and they work great with them, the one thing I can say is that I was using an XP3 for the L/R/C and my AVR for the the Axiom surrounds which was "okay" but when I changed to an XPA5 then the QS8's really started to shine and I got to hear how good they really can sound.

Well I bought the M80 towers, the VP180 center (huge) and the Qs8's and the only thing I have left are the Qs8's. For me the Axiom's where plenty loud but there was just no quality or definition to them, I am not somebody who knows all the technical terms or and audiophile with big word descriptions of what I am hearing, I can only say that for me they sound soooo much better. Then VGC alone is worth the price and 10 times the sound quality of the Axiom VP180.
Just my 2 cents.

Sorry about that, but that's the distinction between A and B stock, B stock has blemishes so return shipping is not covered. A stock should be in like new condition so return shipping is included.

In any event, it looks like you ended up with new speakers anyway, enjoy!

You can't do the Forte Center? It's only 6.2" high so if you can make it work I think it will be a better choice than the 4C.

Jason,

I hope I get to call in this week about my new Wireless system as the Subwoofer isn't working.
