Everything seems to be backordered now. Damn. And I was worried the new stuff would be to expensive for people to consider. Either Aperion made a very small batch for the launch or they had people lined up around the block to buy these things.

Dan.

You can still buy 5's immediately in medium cherry. I still think they still make like 50-50 when it comes to cherry/black. They should have learned by now. It's always the piano black that sells out first.

The cherry is nice, but it's tough to match your decor with it.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind!

dlenart25,
the 5B have a lesser sensitivity rating which is why they dont play as loud as the 532s at the same volume level of the receiver. When comparing the two speakers you may want to increase the volume level for the 5Bs. The "fullness" you are noticing *may* actually be due to the difference in volume.

Well you could get some 6T's in two weeks

That really stinks. Aperion really didn't stock well for the grand opening of the new line.

The cherry finish won't work, huh?

What's your opinion about the new Bravus 12D sub?
I like it's small size, but $1099 seems a bit expensive...
How do you think it compares with other subs like Hsu, SVS, etc...?

I cannot make the comparison, as I have never heard those. I do have the 12D, and absolutely love it. Huge bass! I don't know if you will get anybody that can give you a real life comparison of hearing both, as the only way you will hear a 12D is to buy one if you don't live in Oregon. Plus, they are very new.
However, keep in mind, they do have a 30 day in home trial, and it's free shipping both ways. Meaning, if you don't like it, they pay for the shipping to return it. No risk! After having it for an hour (I also ordered four 5B and a 5C) I broke down all the boxes. I knew right then I was not returning anything!
The small size really appeals to the WAF.
You are comparing it to subs with a great reputation. I am sure whatever you pick, you will be happy with it. Good Luck.

Wife voted "Hell No" on the Cherry. Besides the piano finish will look good next to the Panny

The black Panasonic with black electronics and the black speakers makes it look like a well thought out system. Even if it wasn't. Thats how it happened to me, everything just fell together.

I plan on purchasing 5 series set 5t,5c,5b, and sub, and I was wondering if my Yamaha 1800 would handle driving these speakers. I'm a bit fuzzy on the 6 ohm 8 ohm spec. Should I keep the 8 ohm setting in the receiver or is there a setting for all speakers to go to 6 ohms?

sorry if someone already answered it but I didn't find anything by searching.

Thanks
Mark

SAme here. I have a Panny Plasma mounted on the wall. Maybe if they made Plasmas with a cherry finish? Nah that would not be cool.

BrightObjects,
Don't get too concerned about the whole Ohm spec, especially if you are using a subwoofer. I've asked a lot of people about this. Just leave your receiver on 8 ohms. I have a cheaper Onkyo runnnin my 5B's right now at 8ohms and they are awesome. Is that the RX-V1800 you have? If so that sounds like tons of AVR for the 5 series. You should be golden. That sounds like a killer Aperion system you've got picked out. I say give the 30 day in home trial a go and really, free shipping both ways no strings attached. You may find speakers for life! Good Luck.

Hey brightobjects,

I have a 7.1 series (5Ts, 5C, 534SS, 6IC and Bravus 10D) and push these with a new Yamaha RX-V1800. It is just awesome. I keep the setting on 8 ohm (advice from the Aperion gurus). The sound is sweet for both movies and HT. I replaces the old 5 series with the new, and couldn't be happier.

All,

I have another question for you. I still have the 5T's, 5C, and 4B's on my short list with a possible budget increase for the 6 series for the front (maybe ) and I have narrowed my receiver choices to Denon 3808 CI or the 4308 CI. Anyone here have these series of speakers being driven by these two Denon receivers?

If so I would appreciate your impressions. Thanks.

Regards,

RTROSE

Thanks for your reply Scottiemon.
Unfortunately I live abroad so I don't have the chance of auditioning it myself...

RTROSE,

I did A/B comparisons with the Denon 2808CI and the Yamaha RX-V1800 running my 7.1 Aperions (new 5 series). You'll be extremely happy with the 3808 or higher. I did find the Denon a challange to configure and the remote is useless piece of trash, but the sound was sweet. I opted for the Yamaha for the extra power and HDMI inputs. The 3808 plus models have these and more.

Great! Thanks for the reply. I have already heard about the remote and the lack of "user friendliness" of the Denon's. I have also considered the Yamaha 3800 but I like the two HDMI outs and the 2nd zone component outs on the 4308. I am excited to finish my HT so I can get to the point where I can consider purchasing speakers.

RTROSE

Thank you for the replies. This is my first real sound system and with most things I have to do my research before I buy anything.

Yes I have the RX-V1800 which has all the features I want.

Thanks again,
Mark

I ordered my Aperion speakers. I received the 5b's already and the stands for the them in the front. I ordered a 5c and 4b's for surrounds. My room is 15x15 and wonder if this set up will be enough. I want to upgrade to the 6 series but I havce not received all the speakers yet. I also ordered an SV PB12-NSD and was wondering if the 5 series will be enough. I should just save my money and stick with the 5 series what do you guys think?

That is a lot of quality speaker for that room size. My room is 12x20 and the new 5 series rock it . Very loud when you get that system going, movies are unbelievable. You won't believe all that sound you get from those bookshelves. And the new tweeter just keeps going without distortion. My opnion is you will love it and you will save some money.

The cherry finish will keep getting darker as the years go by. My son's cherry Aperions are already two shades darker in one year. They are practically invisible in a darkened room and because they are not glossy, they reflect no light. Worth considering the cherry IMHO. Daytime, they look expensive.

Hey guys. I have a quick question for Aperion owners. I know someone who's selling some used 532LR speakers and an S10 subwoofer. I'd like to eventually build a 5.1 system, however I don't have the funds to do it all at once. I was wondering if you guys think its feasible to build around such a system by adding speakers from Aperion's new line? I'm concerned that 5T's or 5B's won't match properly with the 532LR's and I'll have to replace them as well.

I'm not an audiophile so I don't require sonic perfection. I'd just like to know what owners think about mixing the two lines. Thanks for any advice you can give.
I think the only thing you would need to worry about is mixing speakers across the front (left, right, and center). Surrounds and sub can mixed without any issues.

You mean surrounds don't need to be timber matched to the speakers up front?

I am kind of worried about the sensitvity of the speakers though. I bought a Yamaha RX-v663 for my system hope it will be able to push the speakers fine. I will also be building me a room in the basement the size of yours in the near future. I can not wait to get all the speakers and watch a blu ray movie. I want to see how these sound with the SVS sub.

Correct. From what I understand, it isn't as crucial.
Matching all speakers is only crucial if you play stuff like all channel music.
632 LR's, 533VAC, 422's

Or

5B's, 5C, 4B's

Keep in mind both systems will be crossed over @ 80hz and will be paired with a 300 watt 12" velodyne subwoofer.

What would you prefer for 2.1 channel music, which would you prefer for movies, which would you prefer for 2.1 channel music?

Thanks,
Dan.

UPDATE: Spoke with Jason over at Aperion and he stated the differences between the 632 and the 5B were really only apparent in the BASS deparment. He believes the soundstage of the 5B rivals that of the 632. He preffered the new tweeter and recommended that I stick with the new stuff becuase the new 4B's are a considerable upgrade over the 422's and the 5C sounds better than the 533VAC.
