Google is your friend

Don't ask me to translate, I've already done enough work for you.

I've seen it for sale from one of the links posted on this board. Search for European HD-DVD releases and you'll find it.

For me, I'm still waiting for the delayed release of FIFA World Cup - All The Goals Of Germany 2006. It was org. scheduled to be released in UK on 12/5, but my amazon.uk order says distributor has pushed back the release date to 1/15.

I bought it.

It's supposed to be sent on December 22 and arrive on January 3rd.

I don't expect any English subs, but who cares, I just want to see the great videos of Zidane.

The total cost was 31.79 euros. That's $42 american dollars. Ouch!

It's the fastest growing sport in the US right now, but suffers from a severe lack of good coaching at the youth levels. And before anyone thinks I'm throwing stones, I'm a volunteer rec coach.

actually the hd dvd is one game, not highlights from the world cup.

its a real madrid game from 2005. they had 17 cameras film the game all focusing on zidane and also from his point of view. while game is being played you will hear music from the scottish rock group mogowi.

Its really a revoultionary type of film making, your basically experiencing the game through zidane.

The photography is done by the darius khondji, who did SEVEN, The Beach, Delicatessen, Alien: ressurection, and more. SO YOU KNOW IT LOOKS GREAT!!

Sounds awesome, but I think you mean that the band's name is Mogwai.

Sorry but im going to be a troll. My brother and I had a nice conversation about this during the world cup. He convinced me to watch it as I'm not too much into the sport.

Basically the reason I think soccer will never "catch on" in the US is they complain way too much. As I was watching the world cup, you would see the slightest little tap and the guy would fall over and roll on the ground acting like he got seriously injured. Then get up for the next play and act just fine. I grew up playing american football and wrestling and that just doesn't float.

Don't get me wrong there are some extremely talented players like zidane, after hearing about his name and watching him play, I busted out youtube and watched 1/2 the videos of him.

But then again there are those that act just for penalty kicks and ruin the game. kinda lame if you ask me.
(don't hate me, just an opinion)

anways, maybe I should get this for my bro for christmas and let him watch it on my hd-dvd player. (sticking to topic)

They are really trying to curb that behaivor. It ruins the game for many many people. The reward for pulling it off outweighs the penalty atm. In England they will boo the hell out of you and the coaching staffs will bench their own players at times for excessive diving. It's still a work in progress, it wasn't born with the game but it certainly is mature enough that it needs to die a quick death.

The "faking injury" is in all sports, not just soccer. It's worst in Basketball, much worse than soccer. So, the injury faking is obviously not a turnoff for people, since Basketball is popular in this country. Soccer is just not "tradition" enough in this country, no other excuse really. People complain it's not fast or exciting enough, but that's just an excuse, since Baseball & Football are as slow and boring as it can possibly get, and they're pretty popular. (you can win in baseball by "walking", and football is often compared to chess - yay.)

Meanwhile, this disc sounds exciting, with the Mogwai music (WTF? REALLY?) and the cinematography. Can't wait to grab it here.

I got it today.

Shocker no english subs

anyways I thought the movie was great.

The HD DVD is sharp and sounds fantastic but I expected it to be a bit brighter. Sporting events are usually bright, even night time games not sure why this one wasnt but I got used to it after a couple of mins.

Iam also putting you guys on notice, If you have surround sound system turn it down a bit or it will blow your system up. The first couple of mintues primarily the center channel is used, and the its kinda hard to hear it so I turned it up, they cut to a different location inside the stadium and BOOM!! the crowd noise comes rushing in, it really scared me. My system was fine, but Iam not sure if I will ever be the same again.

Also another warning the first couple of minutes have footage from the non HD telecast of the game so, dont worry theres nothing wrong with the picture.

You will like it if you like:
Zidane
Real Madrid
Soccer
Movies that are heavily trying to create a mood

If your expecting a movie about Real Madrid, David Beckham and Ronaldo, this isnt the movie for you. You'll see them in the back ground periodically and zidane communicates with them, but this is ZIDANE'S MOVIE.

Is it really Mogwai? If so, I think I'll have to make a purchase just for that fact alone.

edo9125,
Thanks for the review. My copy was sent last week, let's see if it arrives this week.
hi guys first post so hello--anyways does the camera just follow zz about during the game--is it only this game thats on the disc---is there any commentry or is it
just the crowd atmosphere that you hear---cheers al;

I received my copy. I agree with everything edo9125 said above, including the change in volume that can scare you.

mr insterested, yes, the main feature is 90 mins, the game, and the camera following Zidane.

Bonus:
- Interview with Zidane
- Making of
- Gallery of photos
-Trailers? (I'm not sure about this)

The image it's a little bit dark like edo said, it's not like the image we saw in the World Cup in HD, I'd say that the image is film-like. The cameras are following every movement of Zidane, but included in the movie are parts of the game from the regular tv broadcast, that's my guess, so you can see some plays from the "standard" perspective.

It's an unique and really good hd-dvd for any soccer collector.
