Component Cables Mono vs Bluejeans

I need to order a 20' component video cable. After some research it's apparent that there is definitely a difference between poor quality cables and good qaulity cables. I've found that both monoprice and bluejeans cable are usually comparitively priced and sell good quality cables. In this instance however there is a huge price difference between them on component cables (bluejeans $95, monoprice $23).

Now bluejeans cables list the specs of the cable construction very well and using the article http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/...ideoCables.php as a guide I know exactly what I'm getting.

Monoprices specs I'm unsure of. In this instance I'm not sure if the cables are comparable or if the one from monoprice is of lesser quality.

Monoprice

Has anyone done any reviews on monoprice's component cables or can anyone shed some light on whether there is truly a $75 difference in the cables.

Thanks

Have not done any "research" on them, but I have Mono comp. (20+ feet) from a CII to a 1080p PJ (passing a 1080p signal) and they work just fine. You can always call Monoprice if you have questions, they've always been helpful answering questions about their products. I'm sure BJ is fine as well.

I went with BlueJeans component in my walls when I built my room. Was thrilled with their performance (had 40+ feet runs and they were perfect).

More recently I snaked a MonoPrice 22awg HDMI cable through the conduits I'd installed so the component cables are not in use ...

I can vouch for Blue Jean, but have not tried Monoprice. Consider buying both and do your own comparison. As I recall, Blue Jean has a no question asked return policy and Mono might have a similar return policy.

2nd vouce for blue jean - top notch components are used. It should be pretty easy to figure out what Mono is using. Blue Jeans uses Canare and Belden components - top of the line commercial stuff - it is arguable whether you can get much better....

<-- Canare.....no not blue jean. I buy the Canare cable and make the cables myself

hehe

with that said. Components cables either have the appropiate gauge wire to pass the neccesary bandwidth or not.

For instance I myself run

V5-5CFB. One huge bundle with the 5 cables ran inside. I have the crimpers and plugs to do either BNC or RCA. Works quite well and cheaper than either of the two companies

with that said not sure with the 5CFB series if anyone will reach the upper limit of 20 Ghz on these cables.

Thanks guys. I decided to fork out the extra for the Blue Jeans. It's being run through the ceiling so I want to get it right the first time. The monoprice cables are probably fine but at least with the Belden cables I know for sure exactly what I'm getting and its still far less than the Monster crap.

I was skeptical of the monoprice cables until I saw Mrwiggles confirm the quality and after I got on myself. I have a 22 guage 35 foot HDMI cable that is as thick as a 50 guage power cord! Great build quality and is working fine with my HD-DVD player.

I have ordered 4 different cables from Monoprice, a 35 FT component cable, that is run in my crawlspace from my dish satelite to my projector, and 10 ft HDMI cable from my HD-DVD player to the projector. They have all performed well, since I installed them 4 months ago. I live in the Midwest, and these come from the west coast in just four days. They shipped the same day I ordered. I have found no better prices on the web. The cables are of fine build quality.

for short runs, does it matter about the "quality" of the component cable? I only need 6 ft of cable, and the monoprice cables are about 5 dollars.

thanks...monprice it is!

so I have a questions about these cables. 1.) Is there a difference between Tin-plated vs. silver plated cables. Does the silver plated deliver a better signal then Tin-Plated. 2.) Will these cable pass specs for HDMI v1.3, v1.3a?

Thanks

not unless you are running 30+ feet on some tiny gauge (22 gauge)

I have a shorter HDMI -> DVI monoprice cable that has impressive build quality for such an inexpensive cable. Shipped promptly, no problems. Their low prices for above average components is commendable. For digital video transmissions you either see / experience problems or not - there is no wiggle room for snake oil. Not even the jitter issues that plague digital audio.

If I was buying component video cables, there would be more room for improvements in quality, but I would still trust monoprice to have decent cables. Remember, lower guage = thicker cable, better transmission over longer distances.

I did considerable research into the actual cable specs between monoprice and blue jeans cable for a 35ft HDMI in ceiling cable. I went with the blue jeans cable and it has been excellent. I purchased the cable in March 06 and accidently broke the end off one side in December (a long story) and when I emailed Alan at blue jeans about having it repaired he sent me a new cable free of charge. So naturally I highly recommend blue jeans cable.

I agree with people vouching for blue jeans. it's worth it.

Well it seems to me the bluejeans cables are great, but no one has been able to justify the additional cost over the equally great monprice cables.

I am using 100' monoprice component + Audio cables (two sets) to run component and stereo audio from an CE Labs AV501HD distrobution amp to distant part of my house -- I can't really see any difference from a live 720P or 1080i ATSC picture received on those sets to the same signal distributed to the set from an HDTivo 106' away (six foot cable to the AV501HD to the 100' monoprice).

I used the RG59 based cables to make it easier to fish thru the attic but even with the RG6 sized ones monoprice cables prices are unbelievable for the quantity.
