James Taylor Reviews?

Anybody listened to the James Taylor HD DVD? How does it sound and look?
I have not seen this one but I have screened Alice Cooper and Eric Clapton/Cream. Both are first rate. These are mastered from HD Video and should look as good as HDNet
I would not shy away from this one. They look better then most of the movie transfers.

Looks and sounds great. I've watched it a couple times already. Worth getting.

It's fantastic. Some of the performances are amazing (personal favorite is Alison Krauss doing a jawdropping "Carolina On My Mind"). The video is very good, not incredible, the audio is VERY well recorded. Definitely a buy if you like his music at all.

very cool - what studio puts out the James Taylor and Eric Clapton HD-DVD? I'm wondering if BD versions might become available as well;
please don't flame me - I do both formats; I'm just wondering....

If you're referring to the Musicare tribute, I have it. It's an awesome disc! PQ and AQ are fantastic. I am really enjoying this one.

Same here. A rental that was so impressive I have it on order.

I ordered this from BestPrices almost two months ago and it has never shipped. Their website has shown it to be in stock the entire time so I sent them an email two weeks ago. I received a reply stating their website was incorrect and they did not have it in stock. Did anyone else have this problem?

Don't worry, it actually takes more than that to get flamed in here. It's put out by Rhino Home Entertainment who haven't announced any plans for Blu-Ray support yet I don't think. A decent number of music titles hare going to come out for Blu-Ray though next year by the looks of it. If Columbia/Sony starts releasing music videos there could be a really good selection.

Got this title in the mail and watched it last night...

Man, the Boss will always give me chills (and of course, so does James Taylor) - he's probably been helping guys get laid since he started singing hehe

I recorded off PBS in 1080i and the quality was great plus excellent music. Should be a must have on either format for Taylor lovers. Would be interesting to compare quality of OTA with HD-DVD or BD (if they make it) on this one.

We had a get together over the weekend and a friend brought it over. I thought it was an amazing presentation.

A great show. The Pic quality is Ok, not the best but the artists are.

Unfortunately, the HD-DVD wouldn't play past the menu on my Xbox360 HD add-on .

How does it compare with the picture n sound quality of 'HEART' hddvd ??

I pre-ordered this HD-DVD back in October and it finally arrived last night.

Here are some screenshots (HD-A1 into Lumagen for 1080P to G90 CRT at 9' wide)...

Great disc. I did get a few 5.1 drop outs as mentioned in another thread. I'll check to make sure the disc is clean... I've gotten new HD-DVDs with smudges before.

I'm a huge Alison Krauss fan. Bonnie Raitt is on this tribute, too. I don't recall seeing it mentioned elsewhere, but if you're a Alison Krauss fan, she performed in a tribute for Bonnie Raitt. I recorded it from INHD or HDNet a couple of weeks ago.

Just ordered it based upon the comments in this thread. Thanks to all for the recommendation!

IMO, the Alison Krauss track with "Carolina..." is by itself well-worth the price of the disc. We really need to have more HD concert disc releases...hopefully in TrueHD or 5.1 PCM lossless.

I had a few dropouts also but when I replayed the section it was fine. Next time when I played the disc, the dropouts were there but again on replaying the section, no dropouts. What gives? This has happened with a few of my other HD discs.

We enjoyed many of the performances particularly Alison Krauss, India.Aire and of course James.

Where can I get this? Amazon has no James Taylor HD-DVDs on their site. What is the "official" name of it? I'd also like to get the Creem one too, but can't find that either.

Can anyone verify the aspect ratio of James Taylor? DVD Empire is listing it at Standard 1.33:1. Is this right? If so, how does it look?

That's silly. It's a true 1:78-1 HD transfer.

Based on the reviews here I picked this up. It is fantastic. I have watched it a few times. It is a steal for the price. Some of the performances are amazing. My favorite was the Dixie Chicks, they gave me goose bumps.

Thank you everyone for the recommendation.
The "You've Got A Friend" duet with Carole King and James Taylor was very special.
