Care & feeding of sixaxis batteries

Anyone know the correct way to care for the rechargable batteries in the sixaxis for longest life?
I didn't see anything specific in the owners manual & there are so many different types of batts & they all require diffrent charge & storage methods.

I have a lot of experiance with rechargeable batts from my R/C cars & know that if you treat them right they will last a long time.

But some batts need to be fully discharged before recharging, some can be topped off at any charge level, some can be left on the charger while others need to be removed as soon as the charge is complete.

So does anyone know the optimum charging cycle for these batts?

Are there specs on what type of battery it is? I know NiMH rechargables supposedly have no memory loss effect and can recharge at any time, but I think LiIon batteries like in laptops have that problem, right?

I thought I read in the manual that it's liIon.

I hope I'm wrong though becuase I just can't seem to treat my LiIon batteries right and they develop really short lifespans the way I use my cell phone for example.

From the pics I've seen it looks like a LiIon.

Nickel Cadmium has a pronounced memory effect, Nickel Metal Hydride very little. Lithium Ion is supposed to be free of memory effect, although it's generally recommended to fully discharge and recharge occasionally.

As for the PS3 - See the 'Safety and Support' manual packed with the PS3 - page 19. Lithium Ion.
