Old SR-HD5 OTA only - slow menus??

Hello-

I am attempting to pull one of my local OTA digital stations (KHCV in Seattle). Its kinda distant for me (21 miles) but according to Antenna web, I _should_ be able to pull it in.

After having no luck w/ my HDTivo, I dusted off my old Mitsubishi SR-HD5 to see if its OTA reception was any better (with the same signal.) I am using a rather crappy Indoor antenna for this optimization testing (I have 2 antennas on the roof w/ a Jointenna for my regular reception.)

The HD5 does seem to work, but its menus are VERY VERY slow - in the order of hitting either a face button (the direction arrows for example) or via the remote - it takes 5-10s to even move ONE selection on the OSD.

I don't have a DTV card inserted (don't have a spare current one) in it, but it was NEVER this slow when it was in use (Maybe 2.5 years ago?).

Any ideas why this unit is behaving so slow? I am sure there's probably a firmware update for this unit, but I can't imagine how I'd get that unless I hooked it up to the DTV feed (would I need a valid card for this?) I'd JUST like to use this as a spare OTA receiver only - the forum posts I've found say that this should work great for this purpose.
