Gran Turismo HD Concept Available Now!

Thread Starter
I just logged into the PSN, and the GTHD demo is available now! It's 625MB. I'm off to try it out.

Hooray! I just wish it didn't take so damn long to download. It especially sucks since I have to download the system update first.
DL'ing now... its on the HK store as well.... the HK version is 5MB larger...
Wow, this is dogging their network down bad. I can't even get the store to load. It just says Please Wait.... in the middle of the screen.
I just saw it online. The servers are so hammered i cant even begin to download it .
Good luck getting logged in. Don't you wish we were back in the good old days when there were only a couple of hundred thousand units out there. Just wait for Christmas day when everyone tries to update the firmware. Do crashing servers make a sound if you can't see them?
Can anyone confirm this for US? I checked last night, ( around midnight ).
It's there. I saw it but couldn't get it to download. Sloooooooooooooooooow!
I can confirm it-- I'm at 79% download right now. It's going slooooooow. Well, as slow as usual. I'll report back later to advise how the demo is. Good luck to you guys. I hope everyone can get this ASAP.

Cant even log into the store...

maybe worth trying HK?

yup, I'm also getting that error.. maybe they're boosting their servers or adding more bandwidth hopefully to support the downloads.
I am trying to download but cannot even connect to the store right now
post #15 of 317
Just wait for Christmas morning when another 300,000 open PS3 gifts and try to log in....
I can't even sign into the Playstation Network period now, let alone get into the store.
^Heh, same here.
So, how many units are out there right now? If one download right now can bring down the system, what will it be like when there are a million units out there? Clearly Sony has work to do!
Need downloads and game playing on different servers.

Silly that no one can even play a online game now....
I am in the network but cannot reach the store. And this is with 600K PS3s max! I think Sony might want to consider more servers.
is this a demo version or what? why only 650M? Can't log in anyway.
If this continues, paying 50 bucks a year doesn't sound all too bad.

Here are some quick impressions after clearing the Cappuccino and MX-5:

1. I wish there was a way to adjust the gamma.
2. You can change control schemes in the options menu and map accelerate and brake to the shoulder triggers.
3. In game music has to be turned on in the options menu. I always loved the engine samples in the GT series even more than Forza.
4. The control/physics seems improved and more realistic, but, IMHO, still lags behind Forza.
5. Turn off the stability and traction controls.
6. You cannot tune your car beyond tires and above mentioned stability and traction controls. No damping, swaybar, or drivetrain adjustability. It's just not the same GT without being able to fine tune your settings.

Overall, this is a great free demo from Sony. I'm glad they threw the auto enthusiasts and game lovers a bone with this one. I now have to go play with the ITR in Championship White no less.

*Edit: Can remap buttons and turn on music in options.

Man, Sony is going to get alot more bad press when people open their PS3's Christmas morning and can't even get online to game.
Can't get on either, and I agree with paying $50 a year to ensure a bit better reliability.
Seemed like a dial up download. I think I got jet lag waiting.
It's a pretty demo, so it's worth the wait. Maybe they will throw more tracks out there from time to time.

I can't get logged into either PS store right now. What really makes me mad is that when I download from the store while logged on to my Japanese account, my downloads go at least 5x faster than through the US store. It seems a little backwards to me. If there are more consoles in use in the US than in Japan, why is it that they don't beef up the US servers to meet the demand? Shouldn't they be prepared for the bandwidth demand when they know exactly how many people will be using the network?
game supports 720p output resolution via the options... so far very fun...
supports steering wheels as well
could not get on PS3 network.
Addresses to the HK or Japanese websites please? thanks.
