The GT series has been overrated as a driving sim since GT2... The graphics really push that series to it's popularity. Solid games for sure, but GT has a ways to go before it can really tout itself as "sim". No damage modeling, no weather effects, unrealistic drivetrain (GT5 BETTER fully support the G25 clutch and 6 gate), wonky physics, terrible A.I., no online, limited customization... I'm hoping GT5 is THE ONE. We already know it's going to look great, if GTHD is any indication. If it plays like GT4 though, I'll pass.


The GTR series is very realistic, The ETCC mods for EA's F1 series are super realistic, and the arcade versions of Sega's Ferrari 355 challenge were so realistic that Ferrari bought one for each of their team drivers. That game has the best clutch modeling I've seen ever.

It's true. This is always the best policy. It is pretty hard advice to take though. When someone comes in and very rudely characterizes you based on their own predispositions and biases, it's tough not to react. But yeah, we should all do as well not to respond at all. It only fuels the fire.

And people wonder why Sony prevent any reference to other consoles in their forums.

My post was obviously not directed at everyone and I did read what was posted after my initial comments . I think some people are only seeing what they want to see here and reading into it what they will , so be it and honestly I could care less because those that see it for what it is should be able to grasp the very simple point of my post .

Watch who you decide to insult , my post was not directed at any single person but rather many of the threads in general . I was simply fed up with all the childish bickering that is running so rampant in the gaming forums recently . This is not the first time this level of childish behavior has shown itself here at AVS , it happened back when the Gamecube was dying out as well and the big N fans took everything personal ( nothing here is personal people !!! ) .

I'd just like to talk to other PS3 owners about playing the PS3. No kid-like jabber, no hype. I thought that was the purpose of this place.

Just to be clear the reference to GTR being very realistic was refereing to GTR (the PC game) not a Gran Turismo series game.

I agree that Gran Turismo has a long way to go to be considered a true racing sim.

Listen quickdraw, I will break it down for you. Since you are so quick to check a few post or profiles like you stated you did, no I do not own a PS3.....yet. I have made it very clear that I am holding out on a PS3 for reason of my own personal interest. I have never bashed the PS3. There is a difference if you can understand between disappointed vs bashing, fanboyitis and just plain ignorance.

disclaimer #2: what I say is my personal opinion if you have a problem with what i say you seriously need to stop using the internet and this forum and simply stick to only socializing with other people in person it is really not that serious.

Disappointed that for what I want I have to wait until around the end of 07 for the games I am interested in so at this point no interest in buying the system for 1 game R-FOM and Motorstorm demo. Yes I am aware of a few games that honestly for the price of the system at this time are not worth me buying again the games I am interested in don't come out till around the end of the year doesn't mean I can't pick these current games up at a bargain price if I wanted too down the road.

Disclaimer #3 Just becuase I don't like the current games doesn't mean I said the games suck so no fanboys get this confused

Sony network that to ME feels and looks like just and updated PSP service. Anyone can say what they want about assumptions or whatever but all the talk about this service and after the 1st go around you would think things with the service they are providing would be alot further then it is right now. I am fully aware that these things can be fixed. AGAIN the service seems like a beta that was not ready just like the problems that are being ran into now with the PS3. For the love of god if someone says well XBOX at launch........Hello don't you learn from competition. I owned both xbox and PS2 and what happened when I got the xbox I stop buying the PS2 games the last 2 games I remember purchasing was God of War(1 of the best games in gaming history in my opinion story and gamepay) and Tekken(my all time favorite fighting game right above DOA for me)
The rest of the games were bought from that point on for the Xbox.

Reasons as follows:

480P games at the time with my first HD Samsung 32in.
XBOX Live and the service it provided at the time.
Games simply looked better to me.

Basically it looks to be the same way this time except I already bought a 360 instead of the PS2 the first time around. Personally I don't see many games that are multi to be that drastic of difference except with things like rumble for the 360 and motion sensing for the PS3, and few games like GTA 4 with exclusive episodic content. GT4 being a prime example that even with both having its own exclusive content it will still come down to how the online service comes about for both versions and if things are the way they are for the PS3 online and haven't improved with features by then well for sure it will be the 360 version I pick up.

Bottom line I will probably only pick up the exclusive games that are available to the PS3 which honestly it is fine. I just want Sony to give me a reason to want to buy a PS3 and it looks like that won't come until the games I want come out.

I can care less if someone wants to scrutinize this, take it how you want it but I don't have fanboyitis. I have never said the PS3 is a weak system you got plenty of people here spreading that BS just like they do about the 360 and Wii. I state my opinions just like anyone else does or I challenge someones post just like everyone else does here and please go back to disclaimer #2 if you need a reminder.

I can say alot more but won't bother. Now lets move on and leave it at that because if you didn't post your response like you did the first time we wouldn't be having this conversation. Because you don't know me.

I saw on another site the Asian version of GTHD had FF enabled, I downloaded it but not being able to read Japanese I can't find how to turn it on.
Can anyone confirm this & tell how to turn it on or confirm that neither version has FF?

i think the sounds of the cars in the game are too generic. what would put the next one over the top would be to have soundfiles of the actual cars (and mods when tuned) incorporated into the game.

porsches, ferraris, lambos, heck even the vw r32 sound too nice to just throw in a generic sound file...

I agree, the sound do sound the same. However, the Ferrari ( if I could, Id hump this thing ) is the only car that sounds exactly like a ferrari would.

Another thing to point out, is it seems that the #1, 2 and 3 spots on the Reverse track with the 599/T are using Wheels. I was #2, and now #4

You're right...I learned to enjoy the F1 demo. I didn't like it at first.

It's not all about the car, it's that simple.

The most fun I've ever had racing (in real life) was from age 11-16 in a Formula Ford, it was slow compared to my current Formula Continental, but the car was just more fun to drive.

Miatas are probably the girliest car I can think of, but it's also one of the funnest street cars I've driven.

asia has an updated version called gt hd V.1.1. at the hong kong store it shows they fixed a bug for lap times that would stop while still driving and nothing else.

There's somewhat of a patch on the JP PS that fixes the tunnel bug, but it's over 600MB. lol.

So is that bug only present on the JP version?
And is this FF (rumble) rumor true?
