Blu Rays that need to be released to keep me happy...

Thread Starter
I love my Blu Ray player but I'm an impatient man and there are certain titles that I'm really keen on getting. I know I'll have to wait a few years but maybe I'll find a like minded soul with deep pockets and a film studies background who shares my views.

I'm sure everyone else has a list as well (preferably that doesn't contain the obvious stuff like Lord of the Rings or the comic book movies or yes even Porky's)...I'll leave off Universal stuff for now knowing that they support HD-DVD (I'm not gonna say anything bad about the HD-DVD people...they're just frugal).

This is a list of movies from companies that are currently in the Blu Ray camp (non-internment)...

Here's My Top 5:

Days of Heaven
The Killer/Hard Boiled
Straw Dogs
Four Flies on Grey Velvet (at least put this out on DVD!)
Stranger Then Paradise

"I know what you did last summer" Flame me if you like but it was the first DVD I bought (3 months before the player!) and I really enjoyed it and it's looks pretty good (and I'm not talking about Hewitt and Wilson). The fireworks shot near the start is one of the most lifelike things I've seen on DVD

yEp. End of february for The Crow and October for Dracula according to Play. I got really excited at first thinking Dracula was coming out on Jauary 10th but then I realized it's the way the english flip the day and month compared to us. I saw 10/1/07 and didn't realize until later that it was october!

I love old WWII movies like The Great Escape, Bridge On The River Kwai, Where Eagles Dare, Battle Of Britain, The Eagle Has Landed, etc. and would lobe to see them come out on Blu-ray. Also, the James Bond movies.

They seriously need to re-master Aliens, though, because the SE DVD from a couple of years ago is not of great quality.

It's scheduled. If it's not released in 2007 I'd be suprised.

My picks:;

All the Warner titles released on HD-DVD so far w/PCM or some other lossless audio track (yeah, right).

Amadeus or Saving Private Ryan with a PCM soundtrack should be amazing.

I'm afraid Aliens is never going to look great because of the defective Kodak film stock it was shot with...it is a pity!

SPR is a must have title. In the war vein, any format must have these films in its catalog to be considered a serious medium:

Apocalypse Now
Das Boot
Braveheart
Bridge on the River Kwai
Glory
Great Escape
The Longest Day
Napoleon
Paths of Glory
Patton
Sergeant York
Stalag 17
Star Wars Ep. 5 - The Empire Strikes Back (yes, this is a war film!)

Platoon may be coming soon? Any news? Spartacus is already here.

I'd rather have a grainy imperfect ALINES the way it looked than some filtered and DNR'd to death version personally.

I can live with the excessive graininess, but I always thought the sound was quite sub-par; *that's* what needs to be remastered.

Lord of the Rings......FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE LORD OF THE RINGS!!!!!!!

Actually Hard Boiled is very likely to make some sort of appearance on BD. Midway had a survey on their website asking about whether or not PS3 owners would pay an extra couple of bucks for a collector's version of the game Stranglehold that would include Hard Boiled on BD

I'm real suprised Kill Bill isn't out already. One of the first Blu-ray demos I saw in a Sony store used a scene from Kill Bill in the example clip comparing blu-ray with a standard dvd.

Anyway, hell yes, please bring it to BD!!
