Thanks mj
Also, the top of my stand (STO7K) does not flush with the bottom of the display.
There is a about 1/4" gap. The screw holes on the two poles do align with the screw holes of the display. I wonder if that is normal.
This is the same with my pwd7uy and the same stand so I would guess that it is normal. The plasma must be resting on the top of the metal poles.

What digit is it in the serial # of the TH-42pwd7uy represents the year of manufacture. I saw it posted a few days ago but can't find it now. TIA

Is it normal for a whole line to go out like that? The Plasma is still uner warrently so I am wondering if I should get it fixed or not.

I had the same problem with one of my pana displays in my store, though it was a green line. It was a defect and panasonic covered it under warranty.

I was just testing the speakers out connection on the PWD7UY
but couldn't get any sound out of the speakers.
Volume was at about 22 and no mute.
The manual seems to suggest it would only work with the designated optional speakers.
Anybody has the experience or suggestions.
Thanks

I connected a couple of cambridge soundworks cube speakers to the speaker outputs and they worked beautifully with my pwd7uy.

MJ
So no particular settings required?
Also, I was using 8 ohms speakers
I would try other speakers and see what happens.
thanks

In case anyone is interested, the pq through s-video actually got worse with the new blade installed. There are still the same dancing lines, but now add a nice upward scrolling horizontal bar through any black screen. Very disappointing, i've had another issue with the panasonic that needs to be taken care of by them but they are impossible to deal with/contact. I'm regretting buying the panny monitor.

Hi:
Thanks guys.
Turns out that I didn't plug the wires deep enough to the connectors on the panel.
It's doing fine now.
BTW, I really enjoy the PQ of this unit.
A bargain.

IM so lost....sorry if this is redundant but the more I read the more confused I get. Heres what I want:

a)42" plasma
b)HDTV ready ( not built in I have Directv HD rec)
c) looked at the th-42phd-7uy but since im using it im my bedroom prefer builtin speakers

I looked at the 42-xvs30up & the 42px50up?? Such a wide spectrum in price I am obviously missing something.

Please advise, thanks

The Onyx Models (42XVS30up - 50XVS30up - 65XVS30up ) are the High-End Series from Panasonic and supposed to have better electronics. To my eyes, PQ was the same compared to the regular models.

I would get the XVS series only because of the Design. Otherwise the Commercial PH7UY or the HD 50/500U "should" have the same PQ.

If you looked at the TH-42PHD7UY and like it, but need speakers, you can always opt to add the speaker kit (Panny Part# TY-SP42P5W-K)

As much as I hate to do this...

Before buying the PHD7UY, you should read the following long thread that talk about some problems with the "7UY" series - which affect more the PHD than the others:

Bruzzi,

Thanks for the info.....I also am concerned with the 7uy any service needs would be handled as a carry in, where as the px50u would be in home.

Can you shed some light on why I am finding the px50u ( newest generation) cheaper than its predecessor px25u?? seems odd to me

thanks as always

Did you check the Service Center Locator already???

http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/WhereT...cer.asp?Pass=1

Maybe there's an Authorized Repair Center close to where you live.

It's been like that for the last couple years as the cost of production are decreasing.

So prices of Plasmas are falling down each year. Even with new features/technology.
And they'll keep going down.

All true, but it also seems fair to suggest that the PX500U is the real successor to the PX25U. The 50 series has a stripped down feature set compared to the 25's, part of the reason Panasonic could drop the MSRP so drastically.

david8613, there's another member using CableCARD that can't access the Service Menu. So try removing the cable card to see if It works.

Hi all:
I am considering using a VGA/component breakout cable connection to utilize the PC input on PWD7UY. Are there issues with it like color etc..
Thanks
