Actually the material(the same cloth used for covering car audio sub boxes) that appears to be masking is just for aesthetics to cover the wooden screen frame. I do employ a more primitive masking system using a couple of 7" x 87" strips of thin wood paneling that was painted matte black and covered on the outer surface with the same black felt cloth. It's held in place by Velcro and a couple of screws. So it's a real pain to install and I rarely use it. I would love to have a Stewart 2:35 screen with side masking and an anamorphic lens but my room is just to small.

It's only a 100 watt half stack and a few other Marshall goodies but here you go. The only ones that I have left are the 2 little guys. This hundred watt Marshall pumping thorough the 4x12 cabinet blasted out 126 db's at 1 meter on my Radio Shack db meter!! Way to loud for my crappy playing. I drove my wife and neighbors crazy.

i used to play professionally (mostly in bar bands, made a few records that didnt sell)- a jackson thru a sholz rockman into 2 (for stereo) fender twin reverbs (miked into pa system) back in '80s.

actually i had played since '63, but many other guitars/basses/keys, etc. fender p-bass, guild 12 string acoustic- my favorite, yamaha dx-7, tx 81-z, stuff like that.

i gave it up in '91, too much alcohol, other stuff ! not enuff $.

now, i get my thrills from watching concert hd dvds and sd dvds, movies too, on my 108" screen/hd pj setup.

almost as much fun, 1/100th the work. LOL!

I assume that you let the ps3 and A2 do the decoding for lossless sound and pass it via pcm over the hdmi cable to the zektor. Then from the multi channel outs on the zektor you go into the audio processor. Can you shead some light on the matter because it doesn't make sense to me.

Thank

The Proceed AVP2+6 does not have an HDMI input, only 6 channel analog ins, and thus, I have to let the sources do the decoding and pass it to the proceed. however, there is only on set of 6 analog inputs, and thus, the zektor switch has to switch accordingly.

the Toshiba A2 currently passes only the optical, but eventually the XA2 will replace it, and I will use the 6 channel analog outs from it into the proceed (as shown).

the Denon 3910 passes DD and DTS via digicoax. It also passes SACD/DVDA to the proceed via analog outputs (thru the zektor)

the PS3 passes it's audio via toslink to the proceed, also via the zektor.

so in essence, think of the zektor as an extension of the proceed AVP2.

Here's mine , not as fancy as some here, however it will do. Planning on building the Masterbed with a new 50' Panny plasma and A30 , Dirctv HD DVR.

cdvison,

Thanks. Velcro is how my speak grills and screen frame are held in place too.

No ambition to do motorized masking system yet either.

Ok so you are not getting lossless sound from say the PS3 when watching BD. So the Zektor only takes video from the hdmi not audio? The reason i'm asking is i'm looking to do a similar system but i still want the lossless audio. I can use a DD processor but how would you get the lossless audio from the the ps3 over HDMI to the processor.

My understanding of the setup was:

The ps3 decodes True HD sound

Ps3 pass the pcm over HDMI to the zektor on one of the HDMI inputs

The zektor output the PCM on the multi outs to the audio processor

Proceed to the amps

Please help me understand where my confusion is at or is a set up like this is possible.

I understand what you are trying to do, as I would have done the same

unfortunately, the zektor has no ability to decouple the audio track from the HDMI source and process it, to be able to send it to the analog channels. It is a very configurable switcher, but at the end of the day it is just that: a switch.

for BR sources, you will have to do something like what I will eventually do, which is to get a player that can do lossless decoding itself and pass it via analog outs ( a la XA2 on the HD-DVD side). The PS3, unfortunately, can only pass lossless audio via HDMI, so you will not be able to achieve this if you are using a combo like I have.

I personally cannot part with the Proceed AVP2, eventhough it does not have HDMI inputs, because it's performance is second to none quite honestly. I'm gonna hold off as long as I can

Hi guys, I got my fiancee a new digital camera for her birthday, and decided to take a few pictures of my setup. I just started building my setup a few months ago, but its got some good stuff. Some of the TV screens came out crappy, but hey these are the first pics ever of this setup, and a new camera.

*edit--equipment list

Sony 50" A2020 RPTV
Toshiba H-A2
Xbox 360
Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver
Motorola DCH3416 cable box
Wii
Toshiba DVD-R

Want? Sure, but need? Huge bay windows and a 65" wide cradenza do certainly make the screen feel even smaller. Trust me, there's a reason that cradenza is so wide...in due time.

If you can fit a 65" credenza then a 60" or greater plasma would fit perfectly. I am sure the 42" Panny would look great in your bedroom

You may find you get a much better sound stage by pulling your speakers further forward at least flush (or slightly out) from the pillars on either side. Puting speakers right next to walls can creat a negative effect.

I'll bite
I have two HD-DVD players in the house.

pertinent stuff:
HD-A35, PS3
Denon AVR-3806
Oppo 980 (480i HDMI)
Lumagen Radiance XD
JVC-RS1 projector

Main sound stage with PSB Stratus Silvers and C6i center

In the living room I have a HD-A3
Pioneer 4280 Kuro
HD-A3
Scientific Atlanta 8300HD-DVR

My 90" doesn't count?

Projector, when I first mounted it.

Projector, after I added some plumbing pipe.

Pitch Black, during the day. This is just as I was first setting up and before I painted, hence the mess. (I still need to get some curtains though.)

Pitch Black, at night.

Here is my other HD DVD setup:

The armoire was custom built to house a 42" LCD (Toshiba Regza) and several components.

Yup the sectional from United and the coffee table from the Brick. You know your home furnishings dude. So I'll cut you some slack on the "little" 90 incher.

I posted a pic before, but I got a new tv stand last night that looks much nicer. Here's an updated look at my home theater living room.

Lowenbotten....that seinfield set looks lonely up there.....you need to get some other collector's sets to keep it company

Can't seem to locate my tripod to get pics of the TV and AVR rack so
I'll get pics of the setup later. for the moment this is what I had on my cameras memory stick from an earlier request.

Thanks for the useful suggestion but I'll pass. I could have asked my wife for the Blade Runner briefcase edition for Christmas, but all I want is the HD-DVD 5 disc edition without the briefcase.
